I note Armor cant be played since you have to have the X-Men trait. You can replace her with Iceman I'd say...or any cheap ally that can contribute something before becoming a chump blocker (I'm looking at you, Marrow !)

Solo All Rounder

The purpose of this deck is to have X-23 well covered on all fronts, to tackle true solo playthroughs. Innately powerful with ATK, I've focused on rounding out her thwarting (though with a base stat of 2THWT, it's pretty solid as it is, especially since X-23 readies so well), as well as make sure her main economy (I.e that of taking damage) is supplemented with adequate healing.

Unrelenting Attack!

X-23 is so super strong with attack it's not really necessary to add any attack events to her kit. Leading Blow has been included to synergise with her readying properties and innately high base attacks. Amp X-23 to 5ATK with X-23's Claws and Claw Mastery...play Leading Blow, then ready up and attack for 5ATK again!...it would most likely give you an attack of around 7-8ATK...then ready up and hit again!

Buff up Thwart

Although X-23 has a decent base 2THWT stat, sometimes you don't want to use your base action for thwart, and just want to keep maxing out your ATK by attacking, taking damage (either through X-23's Claws or her Grim Resolve ), then attacking again!

Laura only has two copies of a thwart event, Animal Instinct so I've added just another three cards of Jump Flip to help with thwarting the main scheme. Five thwart events and a base stat of 2THWT leaves X-23 in good stead to ensure the threat is kept down. The allies too also should be helping out with this, as will be mentioned later.

Top Up that HP!

X-23 relies on her health to ready up as well as boost her abilities and generate resources. As you would want X-23 to defend most of the time too, then it's essential that her hp is kept near maximum capacity. Adamantium Lacing adds +2hp, and with Endurance, Laura is up to 15hp.

This gives plenty of wiggle room to take damage for any reason (from defending attacks to boosting abilities) but you want to make sure X-23 can heal in hero form so you can keep the tempo up with attack (which, let's face it...is what she's built to do!)

Second Wind, What Doesn't Kill Me, Regenerative Longevity and Pain Tolerance all help in keeping Laura propped up..if you do take massive damage, Second Wind is there as emergency back up, in case you find yourself not built out yet with such cards as Adamantium Lacing and Pain Tolerance to assist you.

Angel's Aerie is good if you can get it out early and as mentioned, if you have X-23 defend for most attacks, you'll have a nice little nest egg should you need it. X-23 already recovers for 6...so flip down, recover and then add another 3-4 healing from Angel's Aerie to get back to near full health!

Render Medical Aid has also been included as insurance for both X-23 and for keeping Honey Badger alive.

Finally, X-Mansion is there to help with sustaining allies, in particular Honey Badger and Elixir.

Resource Type Distribution

With included cards such as What Doesn't Kill Me , Jump Flip, Second Wind and Warlock, there is a reliance to pay the cost with a particular resource type. I've therefore tried to ensure the resource types in the deck are as evenly spread as possible...allowing equal chance to get that physical, mental or energy resource needed to pay for a particular card you want to play.

Allies & Persona

Of course since Honey Badger is crucial to X-23's success, her longevity is necessary to keep assisting X-23 in her readying up. Sisterly Bond is massively powerful too...between X-23 and Honey Badger you could be hitting for 15ATK with the help of Sisterly Bond. So propping Honey Badger up with Protective Training and healing her with Regenerative Longevity , Render Medical Aid and fellow allies Elixir and Triage goes a long way in keeping X-23's signature ally in play and causing all sorts of mischief!

Armor and Polaris assist with sturdy defence when you need it, and Warlock can chip away at threat and then heal up to stay on the board too as a permanent counter to step 1 of the villain phase...

Nightcrawler...I don't really need to explain this do I?:) A very solid ally who can defend brilliantly...also relies on an energy resource to make good his interrupt...I always include Kurt when I can!

Finally and no less important, I've included The Night Nurse. One of the main obstacles that will trip up X-23's tempo would be a villain or enemy stunning X-23 and although she can potentially get rid of stun/confuse by readying up, The Night Nurse ensures that you can just focus on using X-23's base actions to maximum effect.

what a great deck! i love Protective Training for Honey Badger, and i also really like Second Wind as a one-of. it may not come up that often, but those games where you draw it and need it, feels so good.

Good deck but if I'm not mistaken, you can't play Armor as X-23 doesn't have X-men trait and the effect of Polaris, Nightcrawler and Triage only work for Honey Badger, they extend her longevity that's for sure.

Oh gosh you are absolutely correct about Armour! I'll need to swap her out..! Polaris' tough is intended to go on any of the X-Men allies and Nightcrawler's interrupt works on himself...if Nightcrawler declares himself the defender, then he is an X-Men character so he'd be able to trigger his ability I believe..and yes, Triage is purely intended for Honey Badger and as a chump blocker!:p

Many thanks dr00! I've actually discovered this deck isnt as versatile as I had hoped, so I've been constantly adjusting it..against Ultron Expert it struggles alot!

I love x-23 and this looks solid. I was curious if you'd tried game time to get extra activations from both honey badger and x-23? Also I've tried angels aerie and I didn't find it as beneficial for her with her big recovery and acces to heals in her kit. I liked Specialized Training to give her extra health from Front Line Specialist and then you get card draw when she takes damage.

Heya Castlefrank!...oooh, I think you're on the money with Gane Time...certainly can see it subbed in for Leading Blow...my gosh...that could work very well indeed! Yeah the way I play X-23 is to really abuse her and squeeze the hp out of her until she hits critical! Lol...I find Angel's Aerie good because I can defend with X-23 and she can ready up during the villain phase, so nothing really is lost in that sense (apart from hp!)...I've had 4-5 fatigue counters accrued and as I tend to want to use X-23's turns to attack rather than recover (unless absolutely necessary) then that one flip down gives her a massive recovery in one hit..! But different playstyles and definitely depends on the situation... I'm loving that recommendation of Game Time...!! Might have to pinch that!:p
