At first glance, this Spider-Man deck appears to be a regular web-warrior leadership deck. This is only partially true as this Spider-Man deck is actually Peter Parker possessed by the mind of Dr. Otto Octavius!!!
Having no villain scenario dedicated to his genius in Marvel Champions, Octavius possessed the Alter Ego card of his arch-nemesis Spider-Man. Now infused with the memories of his predecessor, Otto is determined to show the world what a Superior Spider-Man is capable of while hiding his true identity, especially from other web-warriors.
Mulligan
Mulligan hard for Warrior of the Great Web. Three copies in the deck to assure you get the web-warrior trait as soon as possible. Suit Up is an extra option to help find a Warrior of the Great Web.
Don't Hold Back: Parker squandered his capabilities by taking it easy on his foes. It's why crime ran rampant when he was Spider-Man. Warrior of the Great Web will buff you consistently with the web-warriors leaving play. Swinging Web Kick is a big hit with 8 damage. Spider-Man is a champ in scenarios with high boost damage. Spider-Man with Last Stand on the turn you play him can reach 7 ATK. Spider-Ham is absurd in scenarios with low boost icons, he sticks to the board very well especially when you play Team Training.
Tactical Events: You're a superior Spider-Man than Parker ever was. You don't need allies to protect you, you can protect yourself. Rely on your basic defend or Backflip to stay healthy. Use allies fully to advance the game. You can wring some extra value out of your allies with the events in the deck. Go Down Swinging, Save the Day, and Noble Sacrifice get an extra burst of value out of your allies. Or you can force the allies to discard. Bring them back with Make the Call in the same turn. Sneak Attack is best with Spider-Man Hobie and Ghost-Spider to get their when leaving play effects. Squared Off fits into Spider-Man's hero kit well. Spider-Tracer allows you to turn your damage into threat removal and Swinging Web Kick can take down most minions in the game.
Sustainability: Parker never appreciated Aunt May enough. Make sure she lives out her golden years in peace and happiness. Play May whenever you draw her and don't forget to flip to AE to get a kiss from Aunt May (heal for 4).
The deck is funky to pilot at first, because there's only one copy of each leadership event except make the call. Keep in mind what events remain available to plan for 2-3 turns ahead.
Deck Piloting Notes:
General Spiderman Info: Spider-Man is a strong hero. Spider Sense hero ability to draw a card when villain attacks is amazing resource generator. Swinging Web Kick is big damage. Can prioritize hitting with every Web Kick to end the game faster. Backflip is great tempo card. Usually you will defend the villain's attack, but with Backflip you take no damage and remain ready for the player phase. Enhanced Spider-Sense is great for canceling treacheries and fine card to hold onto for especially nasty treacheries; I generally held onto it to cancel scheme based treacheries like advance and master plan. Web-Shooter is 1 cost upgrade that generates 3 resources across 3 turns. Make sure to use them before player deck runs out to get them back in.
Allies: The allies are all web-warrior trait except for Black Cat and Spider-Man. You need a web-warrior card in play to be able to play web-warrior so we have a few ways to get that going. Make the Call by passes the web-warrior on play restriction. Warrior of the Great Web gives you web-warrior trait. If you don't hit warrior of the great web first, then Web of Life and Destiny can be played if you pay the 3 cost; worth paying for it as Spider-Man is resource rich and can afford it.
Ghost-Spider tutors whichever identity specific event you need.
SP//dr loop is great. She bounces to hand when she takes excess consequential so the loop is play SP//dr, attack and take 1 consequential, then following turn, thwart to take excess consequential, return to hand and play again. She's a consistent +1 atk with warrior of the great web, and effectively +2 resource generator. Bounce SP//dr to hand, get a card draw with Web of Life and Destiny then use SP//dr and newly drawn card to pay for something more expensive.
Scarlet Spider great 4 cost spider. Beefy at 4 hp, great ability for generating extra card draw if you guess correctly, and gets great value from the events in the deck because he has a printed 4 cost.
Weakness: Usual ally strategy of use ally until last hp and then chump block is not as effective. Spider-Man can take care of himself against the villain so make sure to make the most out of the ally activations.
The deck is fun. Great to pretend to be superior and view these allies as worthless sacks that need to do as you say because after all, you are superior.
"Play May whenever you draw her and don't forget to flip to AE to get a kiss from Aunt May (heal for 4)."
Don't fuck my aunt, Otto!
