Adam Warlock

Disclaimer: I primarily play 2-handed solo on Expert mode, so most of my decks are tuned to that player count and difficulty.

I had a few main goals and guiding principles when assembling this deck:

  1. Support friendly voltron targets controlled by other players. My favorite deck is Jess and Carol Kill the Marvel Universe, and this deck can add Honorary Guardian and a few Guardians-exclusive buffs to the Captain Marvel ally. But we love to support any other ally that wants to stay on the table for a while, including Deadpool, Iron Man, Yondu, Black Cat, Wolverine, or any of the pink 'Pool allies. Med Team is here primarily to heal 6 consequential damage from the strongest ally at the table.

  2. Support other heroes at the table. Give the gift of Armored Vest, Combat Training, and Heroic Intuition. Sure, you don't mind equipping them yourself, but there's a good chance your teammate can get more value out of at least one of them. Pip the Troll, Throg, Groot, and Charlie-27 can each block at least twice. Superpower Training accelerates our friends' setup while we fetch Mystic Senses, and "Welcome Aboard" can even help another player play an ally at a discount. Cosmic Ward is a top-tier control card that serves as an emergency "Nope!" button, which is a vital tool to have, even if it can only be used on treacheries that were dealt to Adam.

  3. Function as a competent standalone deck, in multiplayer or true-solo. We have a bevy of Guardians allies that can carry our upgrades, if there isn't another obvious target on the table. Groot loves to wear a Suit, Rocket Raccoon and Martyr are both deadly with a Spear, and Jack Flag can be a valuable long-term asset when equipped with a Comms Implant. Gamora likes every upgrade, and especially likes being healed by Med Team, so she can draw us an event card every turn. Chance Encounter can help us find the right ally for the situation, and if we're low on resources, grabbing Pip for the villain turn is always a safe play. "Think Fast!" and Psylocke give us that Confuse that's so important in 1-2p games.

  4. Do Adam Warlock Things, including going up to a 50-card deck to fit 6 cards from each aspect into the list. I'm not willing to drop the Guardian allies or Mystic Basic cards, but if there's anyone who doesn't mind a thicc 50-card deck, it's Adam Warlock. Drawing an Energy Spear with nobody to put it on isn't so bad, when you can convert it into a free 2 dmg that draws 2 cards. We've got Mystic Spell events in all 4 colors, plus Spiritual Meditation and The Sorcerer Supreme. I've omitted Basic Spell, but you could easily sub it in for Knowhere, which tends to get spent as a resource, in favor of Adam's myriad 2-cost signature upgrades.

Adam Warlock is such a fun character to brew decks for! This particular list is definitely a little upgrade-heavy, so it may falter against enemies that hit hard from turn one. It's also quite weak to upgrade-removal effects, as the first three upgrades you want to play, Karmic Staff, Mystic Senses, and Mystic Senses, all cost 2. There are so many ways you could tweak this deck, including going even deeper into ally upgrades, or losing the hero stat upgrades, or adding White Fox+Digging Deep, or favoring more Guardians allies, or dropping the Guardians theme altogether. Try it out, and let me know what you would change!

I love all the seen-less-often allies in here. This seems like a good shell to update a bit based on your partner. For example, it will be the rare partner that can make good use of Combat Training, Heroic Intuition and Armored Vest.
