Deadpool is way too good, and that is a fact. You can "Yoo-Hoo!" your way though the building stage, and then end the game in a single turn with a Maximum Effort + This Card is Fire combo.

You want High HP, that is the top priority, and you achieve that with Endurance, Symbiote Suit and Specialized Training to get Front Line Specialist.

With there 3 you get to 9+10+3+4=26 Health. That means a simple Maximum Effort will deal 25 damage. With another 25 from This Card is Fire.

You only need to draw one, easy enough with Weapon X searching for them, Mutant Education returning them to your deck, and the extra draw from Avengers Mansion, Symbiote Suit, Moira MacTaggert, Nick Fury and Ironheart.

And if all that is not enough, just Mulligan.

Then you get the other one with your Alter Ego ability, just drop any card and get your event, the villain is about to die.

Your second priority will be healing back up. For those times you can not end it all in a single turn (like playing with "friends"). Easy enough considering you get to heal 22 with Down Time, Symbiote Suit and Chimichanga Truck.

Now, you have to know, your best turns will start on Alter-Ego, since these are the ones you get to use your skill, then use Weapon X and an extra draw from Moira MacTaggert (on top of hand size 6), with help from Mutant Education.

But, you can cheat and have every turn be a great turn, just let the villain kill you. This won't give you the hand size 6, since you draw in hero form, but everything else will be there. Just die, heal for 20, get a massive hand with the sweet events, blast away, and repeat next turn.

Some bits of advice, Rock, Paper, Scissors is great if you know what you are looking for and have some idea what's left in your deck. And most of all, because Maximum Effort and This Card is Fire are both the same resource type.

Avengers Mansion is here because it is great with the x3 energy cards, but also because Overwhelming Force wants to take our Symbiote Suit away. If that happens while in hero form, it is bad. If that happens while in Alter-ego, you just lost 10 hp you didn't have, and you are dead.

Something to keep in mind, you can't die while in hero form, but you can die in alter-ego. Be aware of those treacheries that can deal damage to you, it is usually 1 point, but you will be swapping to your alter-ego with only 1 HP left a lot if you are using "Yoo-Hoo!" and Maximum Effort to their full potential.

It is usually best to not activate Deadpool to attack or thwart for most of the game. Once you get some extra HP and a bit of regeneration, you want to heal up all the time. Activating for an attack or thwart is 3 damage or threat, activating to heal is 8 or 10.

Finally, an honorable mention to some great cards. Exhausting Personality is really worth using, the acceleration won't be a problem in combination with It Ain't Over.... and once you have 4 or 5, get this from your deck with alter-ego skill, and play its other effect for a big hand.

Also, Armed to the Teeth. You also need to get Deadpool's Katana to be able to swap, so it is expensive and not the highest priority. But once you have it Sonic Rifle is your go-to weapon. If damage is more of a concern, you can go for Laser Swords or Hand Cannon. Remember, you can get the charges back by swapping them each turn, but even then you won't be able to shoot the Sonic Rifle on consecutive turns.

Also, yes, running 6 energy cards. I wasn't sure about this, but since the most important cards are the Deadpool cards and the specific buildup, anything else you can add in there won't make much of a difference. On the other hand, I want to be able to play several expensive cards on the same turn, so it is worth it. The risk of a dead hand is about the same anyway.

Mutant Education makes him so much more consistent, great deck!

2 queries: 1st: do you lose the game when you have Front Line Specialist in play and you drop to 0 (or below) whilst in hero form?

  • Regeneratin' Degenerate: Set HP dial to 1, flip to AE, add Acceleration token.
  • As written, would you not die when you flip to AE, as you then ALSO lose the "+4 HERO hit points" from Front Line Specialist which happened AFTER the set dial to 1. Probably same problem for ANYONE changing form with it whilst at 4 or less really. Design oversight???

2nd: Regardless how "intent" of Front Line Specialist as above, I know you are planning on max HP sacrifice (as everyone using Deadpool is), but...do you really need Endurance? It would mean you are not at maxHP (as writeup) pretty much ever again... You don't have enough recovery - even with Chimichanga Truck - to enable the "triple mana's" when you are starting at 1hp and have max 26? Even with X-Mansion for 1 more, but you plan on using Weapon X.

@Sluggie hi Sluggie, they already answered the question and soon it will be in the faqs and erratas, here I leave you the question with the answer:

110 – Does Frontline Specialist allow you to die when moving to alter-ego, because it says hero and not identity?

No, that’s actually a misprint on Frontline Specialist, it should say identity. We will be issuing an errata for that in the future.

For the endurance part, on my experience it is nice to have some extra room to "yoo-hoo" a problematic scheme or kill/take down a tough with the katanas.

To add on the Endurance question, This Card is Fire makes it worth it by itself.

Add to it that you can have 26 health, use 25 on "Yoo-Hoo!" or Maximum Effort, swap, heal 10+10, then heal the remaining 5 next turn with Chimichanga Truck, and go back to hero at full 26 and ready.

Also, you won't only heal-sacrifice-repeat, the extra 3 HP come in handy for other things, like surviving treacherys like Slug It Out and boost effects like Concussive Blast that can even finish you while on alter-ego.

Why would you be low on HP while on alter-ego? Because you can chose to activate on your hero turn (maybe you need the dmg, or a treachery exhausted you), and then heal twice next turn.

Final detail, it is even better before you have your Symbiote Suit out, going from 9 to 12 keeps you in the game. Great card for a cost 1.

@Trinaranjus, thanks for the ruling/errata notes. I tried to reply earlier but MCDB went kaput on me.

1 small thing. assuming I understand correctly the symbiote suit also adds to your recovery so you would be healing for 11+11 when fully set up

@Sluggie you are welcome, reading rules is one of the things I enjoy about this type of games @oconnor890 good catch, did not think of that and is an important boost to the deck and the card in general
