I have been hesitant about building and playing an Adam Warlock deck in the past. I tried it a few times when I picked up The Mad Titan's Shadow but couldn't click with his unique deck-building style. The signs for giving Adam another shot started when I played a game with Caleb Grace, who was piloting an Adam Warlock deck at Con of Heroes 2025. That was probably the second time I have ever seen Adam in multiplayer, and I admit it looked fun. It took me awhile, but I gave Adam another go. Now, I have so much fun playing him. Recently, I decided to buy/read the Infinity Gauntlet comic after finding it in a comic shop. I now have a newfound appreciation for Adam Warlock. So, if you are feeling conflicted about playing this hero:

When I play Marvel Champions, I typically stay on theme. If you do the same or haven't figured out where to start with Adam, then you came to the right place.

Let's start with:

Allies

Bug and Yondu are the primary targets for Energy Spear and Laser Blaster. These allies can do a decent amount of damage each turn with range and piercing on hand. Groot is the main blocker. It would be ideal to block hits he can survive. Adam's Battle Mage ability can heal Groot when needed by discarding a Protection card. Quasar helps remove threat upon entry, Starhawk is cheap and can bounce back to your hand to be a resource or replayed, and Major Victory can ready another Guardian after he is defeated (do your best to time that ability).

Events

The aspect spells (Magic Attack, Shield Spell, Summoning Spell, and Zone of Silence) are powerful and useful cards for milling through your deck which can fast track putting counters on Soul World. Did you discard something from the deck that you needed? Retrieve it with Quantum Magic. "Welcome Aboard" your Guardian allies and deploy them for a discount. If you or Groot takes a hit, Shake it Off and get a tough status card. Seek justice in case you catch yourself lacking Cosmic Awareness. Perform a Full-Body Charge to dish out some heavy damage. The overkill on that event is not too difficult to trigger either.

Supports

Hidden Base gives a tough status card when you flip to alter-ego. You will have to flip at some point to heal using Soul World. When your board is set up, you will flip back to hero form with 17 max HP and a tough status card.

Upgrades

I touched upon the upgrades the allies use earlier so here are the ones for Adam. Aggressive Conditioning and Defensive Conditioning. The stat and HP boosts give you enough health to tank some hits. Note that the upcoming Heroic Conditioning card costs 3 resources while Heroic Intuition costs 2. IMO Heroic Intuition is the card to keep since it is cheaper and THW is valuable to have ASAP. You likely won't need more than 17 total HP. You may be asking, why isn't Symbiote Suit included? Well, it's not good for the soul, and Adam wouldn't wear it. IMO it's too OP and not fun to use. The aspect stat boost cards have better synergy with Adam's hero kit and ability.

Conclusion

Some last few tips I would recommend: Play Adam's hero kit cards (Soul World, Warlock's Cape, Karmic Staff, both Mystic Senses) and The Sorcerer Supreme ASAP. You go through your deck fast and if you can get those upgrades down first, you will be set up for the next deck pass. If you have a dead aspect card in your hand, pitch it using Adam's Battle Mage and when your board is set up: Draw 2 cards using his Mystic Senses upgrades along with a ready from Warlock's Cape. I hope you enjoy playing Adam as much as I have! Beating Thanos (among many other villains) as Adam puts a smile on my face.
