Iron Man - Always Current

This deck is part of a series of Current environment decks of the Core Set heroes that I intend to continuously update as new expansions are released and as legality in the Current environment rotates. No matter when you come upon this deck, it will be upgraded with the latest and greatest Current environment cards and will only contain cards from packs that you can (hopefully) still find in stock.

Decks in this series are built to be strong and consistent, but wherever possible, card choices are made to provide satisfying mechanical or thematic interactions with the hero. If you are someone who enjoyed playing Iron Man in the Core Set, I hope you'll enjoy upgrading him with my suggestions!

Current Environment: [Age of Apocalypse --> Civil War]

Iron Man has aged well due to his mechanics involving Tech upgrades, which have been ever-present throughout the game. At the moment, Justice provides the best Tech supplements to Iron Man's suit pieces with Sonic Rifle, Invisibility Gear, and Prism Dust. Sonic Rifle is an all-star in it's own right, so I've included the full 3 copies. Invisibility Gear and Prism Dust are much more situational, but just by being 1-cost cards to boost Iron Man's hero-form hand size, they easily justify inclusion as 1-ofs.

Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons are also powerful Tech-synergy cards. Although neither Tony Stark nor Iron Man have the S.H.I.E.L.D. trait, a cost of 3 can still be worth it for a resource generator that will go to use almost every turn of the game. Remember that Jemma can produce a resource for the Hero Action on Rocket Boots!

Yellow Jacket can only be played when Iron Man is in hero form, so you probably want a few Techs out already, but he can help you complete the suit faster and should almost always hit with 14 total upgrades in the deck.

Show of Empathy and Build Support are two of the strongest cards in the Current Environment. Iron Man has his own powerful supports Pepper Potts or Stark Tower to search with the latter, but Leo and Gemma can be fine targets as well. Manifold can search either player side scheme to give you more consistency as well as flexibility.

Iron Lad isn't maximized in this deck, but he's a great thematic inclusion.

The rest of the cards: Jessica Jones, Nick Fury, Mockingbird, Quake, and For Justice! are powerful staples to round it out.

I'm not exactly sure how Marvelcdb presents updated decks, but check the comments to make sure you are seeing the newest version! If a large chunk of cards rotates at once I may have made a new deck rather than updated this one.
