COUNTERFORCE

One of the main focal points of this deck is on attack events that generate value. Winter Soldier needs to kill at least 1 minion a round to generate value from the cards in his kit. His kit suffers from a concept known as DIMINISHING RETURNS. In other words, after killing the first minion in a round, following kills generate less individual value than the first kill. This is because Winter Mask can only be triggered once per round. Also, Silent Infiltration is less effective if both copies are used in the same round. Ideally you want to confuse the villain, if able, otherwise confusing minions is typically not great.

That being said, Press the Advantage is here to help mitigate this drawback. We also have Spider-Girl to chuck more status around to line-up Press the Advantage, and she pairs particularly well with Safe House #30, as this is very much a flip flop deck, we aim to go to Alter-Ego every consecutive round, as Safe House #30 is our only minion searching tool (but it is very good, barring the drawback of only being able to search the encounter deck, something which I believe was an oversight they fixed in Tigra's hero design). We also have Hall of Heroes which may eventually net us some cards while down in Alter-Ego too, as well as Down Time to boost our recovery.

The more I play Marvel Champions, the more pissed off I get at potentially high value, but circumstantial based cards. Events like "Bring It!" and Moment of Triumph, which are uncapped in capacity but require the right circumstances to be of value. Aspect locked resource cards also fall into this category. That being said, this build does run both Team Up cards as they are both very powerful and pretty consistent to pull off in actuality.

I am otherwise leaning way more into Upgrades and Supports that are value generators, as they tend to be more reliable. Hence the stacked out Preparation package. Winter Mask provides the Spy trait and I actually want to make use of that here with Espionage, another card that has a delayed gratification draw power effect, much like Hall of Heroes. Remember, you can still play Espionage if you have Black Widow in play, or you can cheese it into play with Winter, Widow, Soldier, Spy. You could add additional allies like Nick Fury and Mockingbird as they are also both Spy traited, but I do not see this being a major issue. Again, because we are flip flopping, Espionage has a higher chance of triggering overall, during the course of the game, particularly on the turns we end up in Alter-Ego.

Face the Past gives Shadow of the Past surge if we later encounter it, as well as putting an extra minion onto the table and eventually back into the encounter deck per deck pass.

Rounding off our preparations we have a full compliment of Practiced Plan and Counterattack, the best card in the entire game. Because this deck aims to flip flop, having a heavy preparation line-up works well as you cannot play attack events while in Alter-Ego - i.e. if I draw cards from Hall of Heroes on the turn I flip down to Alter-Ego, I have a higher chance of actually being able to make use of those cards by laying down some preparations.

Spread some status, Press the Advantage, abuse the team-up cards, and strike back with a powerful Counterattack to end the villain.
