With this deck, I leaned hard into preparation cards to abuse Secret Agent's ability to passively collect threat on his suit form upgrade each time a preparation goes off. Then boost Fury's already strong thwarting capability and then close things out with a thin deck of attack cards boosted by all the threat you've collected.

There's A Man Who Lives A Life Of Danger

Secret Agent Nicholas J Fury, at your service. Secret Agent should be priority #1 along with his Watch and Car. This is pretty basic, and "get the hero's kit out so they can do their things" isn't groundbreaking or revolutionary. Once his kit is out, though, we can abuse key synergy with his preparation cards to steal lots of threat off the board. Every time we resolve a preparation, we steal one threat from a scheme of our choosing onto our suit.

  • Eyepatch Camera is a fan-favorite, and "Prevent 3" becomes "Prevent 4" with Secret Agent. All 4 go on your suit form
  • Intelligence Analysis costs 1 of your saved threat to cancel a treachery. But with Secret Agent, you can take that threat straight from a scheme. Anti-incite 1.
  • EM Shield can prevent all damage from an attack, and THEN steal 1 threat for your suit form. Beautiful.
  • Espionage and Target Acquired become even better value when each one steals 1 threat when it goes off, in addition to the benefits of the preparation card itself.
  • Important note: Secret Agent is a Hero Response only, so you cannot trigger this response as Alter-Ego. Also, some of your preparations are Hero Response or Hero Interrupt only

Practiced Plan

Practiced Plan is an unsung hero in Fury's kit. It can be used to recur the other preparation cards above... but can also be used to recur Practiced Plan itself. It's a fantastic daisy-chain.

You can pull off similar maneuvers while recurring EM Shield if you're preventing damage from an attack or Intelligence Analysis cancelling a treachery. The threat you steal will be sued on your following turn to play back out the preparation with Fury's Watch

It's a magical place where Agent Coulson can be recurred to steal back your lost preparation cards from the discard pile, notably Practiced Plan (which costs zero to then play)

They've Given You a Number

And taken away your name. One of the strengths of this deck is giving Nick Fury a number. A higher number for his thwart stat. With Fury's Flying Car giving you a free ready each turn and Nick's basic thwarting adding threat to his suit, he really benefits from boosting his thwart number.

Odds Are He Won't Live To See Tomorrow

If you're facing Collector 2 or Batroc, the thwarting power Nick brings will finish the scenario almost on autopilot. And unless you're careless, I'm not sure it's possible for Juggernaut to win here. But for most Villains, controlling the main scheme is a means to an end: to reduce the Villain's health to Zero. To that end, we will need to turn all that suit-power into damage.

  • Because of all the upgrades in this deck, the deck gets pretty thin by the 2nd or 3rd deck pass, giving reliable access to his attack cards Concentrated Fire and Spray Fire, which should almost always be amplified with your stored thwart.
  • Even in Justice, Nick can personally bring the pain. Nick Fury's basic attack of 2 can be amplified with stored threat up to 5, and he can swing twice per turn thanks to his Car.
  • Lastly, Huskenomics are pretty easy to exploit, even from Stealth form. You can usually get one activation (with no damage) from Fury's Watch. The Sidearm will amplify damage a bit and allow her to dodge retaliate. It's actually a pretty interesting exercise to consider each hand you draw as Husk-fuel, just looking at the resource icons and thinking about how much you could get out of 1-2 boosted Husk activations.

With Every Move He Makes, Another Chance He Takes

This deck has worked really well solo, even against Villains with higher scheme stats. The Majority of Villains put pressure on you with either damage or threat. But Nick avoids the damage and denies the treat, and most Villains don't have any answer to that. I tried to keep the deck on the thinner side, but there are a few Honorable Mentions that you could swap in or out to see how they work

  • Fitz-Simmons is great for Nick, because some of his best cards are Tech. But once that tech is out you might need to add Homeland Intervention and/or Global Logistics to give them something to do. In multiplayer games this might be a great substitution for Husk and her Sidearm.
  • More preparation cards like Prism Dust, Intelligence, and Espionage, but recurring the superior preparations from Nicks own kit is often a more powerful move
  • Justice Attack Cards like Waylay, Pivotal Moment, or Turn the Tide, which can be boosted with suit-threat
  • The Raft can lock away minions, which just get in the way
  • I won't make the Con this year, but I hope you all have a grand time!
