scarlettmfw: 'Hey, it's spelled Rogue!' for the fiftieth time

Rouge Bleu | Rouge Jaune | Rouge Vert

Straight from Moulin

Rogue is here and packs a wallop. The way to play this deck is: wind up your attacks, get all the minions, put on your best Scarlett O'Hara unimpressed face, make everything gone with the wind, and celebrate with an iced tea.

Workin' Out

Feel the burn by building up your attacks with Follow Through and Honed Technique. There's 21 cards in the deck with or resource icons, so y'all should have no problem gettin' those gains.

Y'all can also set up your resource generators: Deft Focus, Martial Prowess, and X-Gene. Every card in Rogue's deck except for Gambit and her jacket are SUPERPOWER and identity-specific events. Other than Superpower Adaptation, which is a 0-cost card, everything else works, so that's 10 really strong events that work at any point, regardless of how much you've set up anything else. Martial Prowess is also very important for the requirement on No Quarter, so be sure to set it up. It's not impossible to pay otherwise, but it's less consistent than Honed Technique kickers, with only 16 cards with or .

Belle of the Ball

Use Angela and Looking for Trouble to dig for minions. Once you have some in play, you can placed Touched one one of them, giving all your attacks Overkill. Remember to place it on the minion you wish to attack last, otherwise it goes away and you lose the Overkill. After placing it, be sure to use "Bring It!" if it's in your hand. Even at one minion, it's worth it. It's just a simple card cycle, letting you discard for another card. Don't save it in your hand for some crazy 10-card combo (I ain't your mama though, y'all can do what you want).

Country Lady

My mama raised me in the dirty south a country gentleman lady. Down here, we make sure everyone who come to our house get fed. We're servin' up nothin' but knuckle sandwiches though (KAPOW!): Into the Fray, No Quarter, and Southern Cross.

  • Into the Fray hits really hard, up to 12 total damage when you hit for excess with Honed Technique, and all of the excess gets to remove threat from the main scheme at the same time. With Touched on a minion, you're also hitting all that excess damage villain.
  • No Quarter similarly hits for 9 (with all the appropriate requirements), letting you discard from your deck for all points of excess damage and drawing all Aggression cards. Again with Touched on a minion, you get to hit all that excess to the villain at the same time. It's not uncommon to continually combo out minions. Your only limitation is minions, but thankfully you have so many ways to find new dance partners and keep the dance going all night. So raise a glass and toast to it!
  • Although Southern Cross doesn't benefit as highly, only hitting for 9 (with Follow Through) and just doing excess to the villain if Touched is on a minion, Deft Focus and X-Gene help pay for it, so it's a cheap date. Plus, it's helpful damage when you don't have any minions and just want to swing for value, getting a stun on the villain (if it's touched), extra damage (if it's on an ally), or draw a card (if playing multiplayer). If there's an AERIAL character in play, you can attached Touched to it early in the round, then swap with Energy Transfer, so it will hit for up to 11 and Overkill (with AERIAL, Follow Through, and Touched being on a minion). That's a lot of steps, but we have to put some sweet combos in here somewhere.

And that's the easy guide to bein' a good 'ol southern lady. Good luck, and see you next time, suga.

@theromeo3517 'you don't want these hands!'

Great deck! I thought I heard that the Touched affects last even if the character you place it on goes away that round.

I wanted to make an Overkill deck for Rogue based around Honed Technique and you've done it!

Oops our bleu and rouge mixed into violette!

Feb 24, 2023 dr00 · 44789

@InigoMontoya the traits last, but the effects from Touched itself will change as you move it around. if you attach it to an ally and then move it with Energy Transfer, you won't have the aerial trait anymore unless the ally (or the new target) had aerial.

@journeyman2 :0!

Do note that while technically a superpower you can't use Deft Focus on Bulletproof Belle due to it being an action.

Feb 24, 2023 dr00 · 44789

@IcyHaze haha good spot! it originally had Toe to Toe but i took it out cos it wasn't really doing that much. it only got +1 dmg from Honed Technique and then her DEF wasn't boosted if you're trying to trigger both, and her extra ATK didn't really help in that interaction

@IcyHaze Deft Focus can't be used on actions? Bet this was an errata ruling from something broken. Bulletproof Belle should def be payable with Deft Focus, you'd just exhaust it during your turn to play during a defense later. What am I missing?

Feb 27, 2023 dr00 · 44789

@Stretch Deft Focus itself is an action, so you can't use it during the villain phase. @IcyHaze is right that in this particular deck, it doesn't work with Bulletproof Belle. if i had Toe to Toe, i could use it though, because it does allow you to defend in the player phase. it was in the original list, but i eventually took it out to make room for other things and forgot to mention it lol. i normally do like a 'other options' write-up but decided to keep this one more succinct. maybe it needs more testing to determine how useful it can be though

Regarding Deft Focus:

I think you can use it on Bulletproof Belle:

You just have to Tap Deft Focus in advance during the Player Phase (because Deft Focus itself is an Action). You get to reduce the next Superpower you Play this TURN by 1. So it is possible to use the reduction during the Villain Phase (if you did not play another Superpower of course).

Of Course this is only good if you have no other use for Deft Focus during the Player Phase and you already have Bulletproof Belle in Hand or get lucky and draw it.

Sorry i think i was wrong ! Turn is not the whole round...

Mar 01, 2023 dr00 · 44789

yeah you got it @Emkay1978! but no worries. tbh it might be worth cutting for some people, but i do like it for playing Energy Transfer, Goin' Rogue, and Southern Cross. x-gene will be there for Bulletproof Belle, but i don't usually have the chance to play it that often anyway since minions die and i don't put Touched on the villain that often

I'd prob put the The X-Jet in place of Deft Focus if you think it an issue of usage. It'll help cover the blueANDred requirement for a super charged No Quarter too and into the multiple pays of it drawing a second.

Great deck and write up @dr00! Just finished messing around with a modified precon and this may be the first one I try in aggression.

May 09, 2023 kikke2 · 730

No Thor?

May 26, 2023 dr00 · 44789

@Sluggie yeah, The X-Jet is definitely a consideration, especially if you are playing multiplayer (and if no one else wants to take it). i think that helping pay for No Quarter is definitely a consideration. how did it work for you? definitely sounds good

@DOHK1014 good luck with it! how did the precon go for you? i found it wasn't the best fit for Rogue imo

@kikke2 sorry, can't include that one! which one did you mean: Thor or Thor?
