This is the deck that carried me through expert Mutant Genesis, in true solo.
I intend to replace Storm for Psylocke when the Wolverine pack releases for more confuse. The list is pretty self-explanatory I guess, here are a few pointers if you need them:
-
The Power in All of Us is very useful to put relevant basic cards in play (The X-Jet, X-Mansion, Utopia, Team-Building Exercise, Danger Room), but also a few key allies (Professor X, Angel, Storm, Colossus).
-
Utopia allows Cyclops to double thwart if you time your move correctly, i.e. thwart, play an ally to ready via Utopia, thwart. (check the card itself, the description on the website is incomplete).
-
Team-Building Exercise to reduce the cost of any x-men in hero form.
-
If Professor X / Phoenix are in play, Cerebro will let you search your entire deck for an ally (more psionics to come when Psylocke is available will also make this easier).
-
Play Wolverine and use Danger Room to upgrade him with Attack training. Combine with Game Time, this will give you more activations and lots of damage output. Don't forget to heal Wolverine with X-Mansion whenever it is useful.
-
Upgrading Angel with attack training is also pretty good, you get a 5 hp ally with 3 DMG (and you can also heal him with X-Mansion while Wolverine heals by himself).
-
Mitigate damage with Polaris by giving yourself a tough card, or using Nightcrawler's ability. Also, have Colossus block an attack when tough.
-
Also thwart with Tactical Brillance to get TACTICS to your hand. Choose whatever you need, but Priority Target a minion whenever you can (and have Wolverine defeat the minion), or Exploit Weakness on the villain so you can use "Optic Blast" on him.
The CAMPAIGN
The deck performed quite well and defeated every scenario from Mutant Genesis, in true solo expert. One exception: it defeated all 4 villains in the attack on the x-mansion scenario... I felt silly just letting Blob B get away with it.
Now, beware: Sabretooth II is still a formidable foe, and Magneto II too, of course. the other scenarios seemed less of a challenge, altough the first sentinel scenario is kind of annoying as confuse is impossible.
Sabretooth: have allies in play to block at all times! If not, you have to block to keep Robert Kelly alive and well. Keep the main scheme as low as possible. use the Frightened Police to ping off though status cards or help you get rid of threaths. Keep control of the threaths, get rid of attachments or you're toast! When everything goes in your favor, consider dealing good chunks of damage to Sabretooth, namely using Full Blast.
Sentinel scenarios: Get Jubilee and Magneto out ASAP by thwarting the side schemes early. Magneto is amazingly useful. Combined with Jubilee's ability, they can take down pretty much every minion or help bring down the villain. Keep Jubilee in play from scenario to scenario by not damaging her, using only her ability (or heal her with X-Mansion). That gives you a nice option for DMG all along.
Mansion attack: nothing much to say here... Make the most out of allies. As always, Wolverine with attack training is amazing. Confuse is very useful (Professor X - except when the Atrium is in play).
Magneto: ok, Magneto is rough. I choose to thwart ASAP to get to "physical strain" early. Really useful! I also had a campaign upgrade that would confuse him (once). Still, on top of Professor X, I had a few safe returns to AE to use X-Mansion, Cerebro. Wolverine with attack training and Full Blast for the win.
Card considerations
With The Power in All of Us, it would be easy to add nice basic cards to complement this. Mockingbird, Nick Fury, Avengers Mansion, Helicarrier come to mind, but also Vivian to blank pesky minions or side schemes.
I decided that I wanted an x-men themed deck and kept those out for this reason.
When Psycloke is available, it could be relevant to turn this into an aggro deck and consider Drop Kick, The Power of Aggression / Martial Prowess to get easily. that way you'd have 3 stuns, 3 confuses to keep Sabretooth, the villains during mansion attack, or Magneto from activating.
