This deck is Mental Resource Tribal. It is built around making sure we always have mental resources to trigger Honed Technique

It functions best as a minion control deck while still doing damage to the villian. The deck definitely requires some support with threat removal, at least on a turn to turn basis, and protecting himself as in multiplayer your resources are usually devoted to your attack events.

Hall of Heroes, Moon Girl, Nick Fury, and one of our few non-mental cards Champions Mobile Bunker serve as deck acceleration to make sure we always have events in our hand. We also want to make sure we are overkilling through minions to get as much value from No Quarter as possible.

An aggressive mulligan strategy to make sure we get one of our Honed Technique early really helps the damage flow. After that Hall of Heroes, and Martial Prowess are our next most valuable upgrades.

If you have a Go for Champions! or Forcefield Projection Toe to Toe serves as excellent cheap damage 6 (if you pay with either Supernova Helmet or a mental resource) while being able to negate the attack damage.

If you don't have a dedicated defender or don't want to negate the damage, Press the Advantage can serve as a replacement for Toe to Toe.

Really fun deck! i love all the new stuff people are trying with Nova. so many fun builds in every aspect. what do you think about Uppercut in lieu of Toe to Toe? it costs 2 more, but you end up doing +2 damage and don't have to take a hit. you can also use it with Martial Prowess.

I think Uppercut or Dive Bomb could work great in this deck. When I originally built the deck I went with Press the Advantage but found it a bit underwhelming. The protection player at the table was actually the one to suggest Toe to Toe in its place. He was playing Ghost Spider and had an excess of protection events and was willing to take a hit even on the hero turn. I was trying to stay with low cost events to allow stringing multiple events together to keep going with Unleash the Nova Force.

If I was going to play this into a scenario with less minions that would probably be a swap I would make to allow for more burst damage on the villian.

The last reason for using Toe to Toe is that it was a mental resource. The original goal of the deck was to use only Mental resource (or wild resource) cards but I decided to keep Combat Training, Champions Mobile Bunker, and Martial Prowess. Combat Training is just a staple card to allow me to more easily set up last hits and Champions Mobile Bunker for the cycling. While I could find a replacement for Martial Prowess in Ingenuity to keep with the mental theme, the fist resource provided by Martial Prowess proved key in being able to play No Quarter without needing to use Supernova's Helmet freeing that up to play his events.
