I haven't got to play a lot of Doctor Strange so I wanted to build a nice deck for him, mostly meant to abuse his invocation deck, I didn't want to just have him put allies / upgrades in play. I just finished Klaw, I was full life with a board full and he had 0 threaths in play on the first scheme... I got hit ONCE. Strange is absolutely OP!
Once you get set up you'll draw your deck out, play multiple invocations, make your board of allies tough, confuse and stun the villain... all in one turn!
Draw your deck:
Once you have a few allies, upgrades and support in play, you'll be able to draw like a crazy person. That includes: Avengers Mansion, using Master of the Mystic Arts to draw more than once with Winds of Watoomb, Strength In Numbers, drawing with Nick Fury...
by the end of the game, i played Strength In Numbers on 4 allies, readied them with Avengers Assemble!, played a second Strength In Numbers, readied Wong with Get Ready, had him find me Winds of Watoomb which I played twice (Master of the Mystic Arts), played Fury to draw 3 more... I repeated this scenario at least 3 times in late game.
No damage shall pass!
It's actually way too easy to escape damage with Strange. Use your cheap allies to fuel Strength In Numbers and you can make them though with Seven Rings of Raggadorr, so they can block and stay alive. You'll play so many spells that you'll cast it again before tough cards are gone, negating all damage.
Spell casting
-
Ready Wong in your search for just the right spell: use Get Ready.
-
Play an invocation, ready with Cloak of Levitation, ready with Avengers Assemble!, ready with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, play some more with Master of the Mystic Arts... Seriously Strange does it all.
Resourceful
- lots of resources or discount cards (Avengers Mansion, Helicarrier, Quincarrier, The Sorcerer Supreme, The Eye of Agamotto). The more of those you put in play, as well as allies, the more you'll manage to draw your deck entirely, enabling crazy turns.
But... what about thwarting?
Images of Ikonn and Astral Projection will come by so often you won't have to worry about a thing.
Have fun!
