I, The Royal X

All Hail, the King

This deck has been built in preparation for a 2-player game where both Black Panthers (T'Challa and Shuri) help the X-Men foil the Marauders' plans!

My Royal Subjects

Being the monarch that he is, it's hard for anyone not to be enthralled by T-Challa's presence. Even the X-Men are happy to take direction from the Wakandan king, and this is primarily the concept for this deck.

CONCEPTS:

• Thematic (Black Panther teaming up with X-Men for mutant based scenarios);

• Utilise X-Men allies to do the bulk of work, early game;

• Either amp, ready or discard allies for maximising their attack/thwart, or to strengthen T'Challa;

• Pivot to T'Challa once upgrades are set up for Black Panther to assist in closing out the game

X-Subjects

All of the allies (except Shuri ) are X-Men and most of them are one-activation allies.

With the exception of Beast (for obvious reasons to grab a resource card) and Phoenix, all other allies typically have just the one activation when playing to their strengths (i.e thwarting or attacking):

Cyclops only has 2hp and can either thwart of attack once before considering using him to chump block;

If Gentle attacks the villain, he'll only get one activation after that, or chump block;

Kid Omega has only 2hp...Pixie has only 2hp, Professor X leaves play after one round etc etc...

There of course is the option to have the allies activate twice...however this deck looks at providing better alternatives to that final use for your allies.

Noble and Inspiring Leadership

Three leadership events have been included here, with the intent that you may combo any two of them together, depending on availability and the situation -

Lead from the Front + Inspiring Presence will allow an ally to hit/thwart harder....then ready up and do it again, making themselves also available to chump block;

Inspiring Presence + Noble Sacrifice will mean the ally can activate twice before you discard them to heal T'Challa and give him a tough card. This combo means the tough supplements a chump block, but you also gain health...handy if T'Challa needs to recover but not flip down;

Lead from the Front + Noble Sacrifice gives the ally a strong activation before providing T'Challa with defense (through tough) and recovery.

Heart of the Panther has been included solely for 2-Player with Black Panther. With so many X-Men allies, this card wouldn't be very useful in solo, or if Shuri (the hero) isn't also played.

AvX Support

The supports included are a bit from both Avengers and X-Men camps:

Avengers Mansion to be played if the opportunity arises, or in conjunction with Resource Reserve;

Utopia can increase your ally limit (if you have Shuri on the board, replace her quickly to ensure all your allies are X-Men) and more importantly, can ready any ally back up. If there are no options to combo the events above, a second activation from an ally (particularly if you've already played Lead from the Front) can be pretty useful;

Resource Reserve is also added here to work in tandem with Beast and assist with playing more cards. Look to add in Vibranium when you can, so either you, or your team mate can benefit!

The King Getting Down and Dirty

Clarity of Purpose has been included to give you the option to generate a resource. With Noble Sacrifice you should be able to recover the damage. A second copy is also included should you consider using an ally as a resource generator too!

Finally, Rapid Response is included to ensure you always have an ally on the table. This deck relies heavily on multiple allies being out, and a constant recurring and rotation of allies, to make sure we have a chance to make the most of some of the allies' abilities. Phoenix works a bit like Inspiring Presence - she allows for an ally to activate a second time before you consider discarding them, setting them up to chump...or ready up a third time for that one final activation...!
