Intro

I was always concerned about aggression being usually weak at thwarting, and not as rich (as to resource) as to other aspects like Leadership or Justice. So I was hoping one hero, that is not Minion focused can actually be close to being rich in resources, and can manage the board in all fronts. And ta-da! Here comes Hulkling, the hero I was always waiting for.

Key Notes for playing the deck

As the name of the deck implies, there are 2 unique cards featured that are not often used by other heroes, these are Meditation and Skilled Strike. It will be explained in detailed later.

The key for this deck is to get as many resource as possible to ensure you can build your board, while benefiting from your shapeshift card abilities by playing events once or even twice in one turn to benefit for the effect of Shapeshifter Strike, which is a really cool card I must say!

At the start of the game, try to dig for key upgrades, resource generating cards and resource cards like any other deck. Get Winged Shape using your alter ego ability, this card ensures that your threat is well managed solo, or it can help with side schemes if playing in multiplayer. Keeping threat always in watch, doesn't only ensure you don't lose the game, but also let's you and your team flip in Alter Ego more often, to get that juicy double resource shapeshift card.

Swap to alter ego if deemed safe to get Imitation Shape, and use as double resource, use it to play a useful and viable card, or keep it as resource for next turn. Do it again at the start of the next turn, to either get the shapeshift the needed shapeshift for the turn, either more damage, or healing, or again just use as double resource.

Some unique cards in this deck are

  • Meditation, this card is not often used by a lot of heroes, especially aggression heroes, due to their weak thwart mitigation, definitely not the case for Hulkling. This is especially a good card to dig deep at the first turn, in which you will definitely be playing a shapeshift upgrade which will ready Hulkling, so its three free cards, with almost no real cost.
  • Skilled Strike triggers your shapeshift card response, so it is usually a +2 attack, 2 thwart for a 0 cost event, which is really really sweet!
  • Fusillade is a really efficient event when you have an easy to exhaust weapon upgrade, such as Jarnbjorn and Hand Cannon.
  • Face the Past Hulkling nemesis is weak, with 5 hp and no entrance effect, he will never get to take a turn to trigger his ability, so Face the Past is an easy choice to help you fast track in building your board.

Then end game as usual, deal as much damage as possible to the villain, spamming allies if necessary if unlucky with event card draws.

Ok that's probably a long write up, hoping you guys try and enjoy the deck. Please give feedback if you tried it, or on how to improve the deck if possible. Thanks!!! :D

Hey, just commenting to say that I don't think Meditation works the way you described. You wouldn't be able to use it to both play a shapeshift upgrade and ready Hulkling, as you need to be in AE to play Meditation and in hero to ready from the shapeshift upgrade

@dr00same, i love an excuse to use Skilled Strike

@Redbear64 i mentioned in notes, thats its good in first turn, since u play meditaion, exhaust AE, flip to hero and play your shapeshift card and ready hero.
