Let’s Do Something Stupid
So…ngl…I just saw the live-action How to Train Your Dragon, and it was such a good movie. I couldn’t help but wonder how I could use the (currently) only playable dragon and have fun. At first, I thought about just Sidekicking and Voltroning Lockheed and disregarding the powerful “enters play” effect. That had too many feel-bad moments and felt unthematic to the movie. So then, it quickly became how do I recur Lockheed as much as possible and get a Training card on him without paying for it.
So Let’s Do Something Crazy
So this deck aims to help you get Danger Room out quickly so you can use it to train your dragon! Then, keep recurring that dragon. There are plenty of times to flip down, call your Dragon, train it, and clear the main scheme or do some damage. You can be recurring this dragon 4 or 5 times in the course of a game.
How do we get Danger Room out quickly? Mulligan hard for Danger Room, Forge, or Build Support. You can generally get one of those within two turns. Then, find your dragon and go!
Gestured to All of Me
Well, once we get our Dragon Training Engine going, what else matters? A couple of Shadowcat tenets still hold true, it’s always worth it to make sure you end your turns in Phased to get the full defense for yourself. Deft Focus and Solid can help make sure you pay for Shadowcat’s cards. (You are flipping down enough to include X-Gene if you wanted, but I wasn't getting enough mileage to include it).
With that, the game is done. It just takes some time. As far as pacing, in solo, standard should take you 1-1.5 deck passes, and in expert, it should be 2-2.5 deck passes. That’s not a hard and fast rule, but it can help you judge if you’re pacing this deck correctly on average.
