"...but I'm about to open that Gate whether you stand aside or in front of it!"
– Spectrum, about to open that gate...
A very fun deck, using the rarely seen Gatekeeper. It worked wonders in multi AND solo (though it's riskier in solo because you can run out of minion to fuel your thwart). I played Expert Mojo and it went fine :)
Overview :
- Play Style : Fast-paced, thwart by damaging minions
- Difficulty : Medium (don't mess the sequence)
- Power level : Medium to Strong
- Recommended Player Count : Any
- Ideal Aspect Partner : Someone who can defend, someone with stun/confuse, or someone who puts minions into play.
Concept :
-
Invoke minions with Looking for Trouble, promote them to Gatekeeper, then defeat them with 6 ATK + Pitchback + Photon! Thus, thwarting 7 from the main scheme. Then, change form, Ready and thwart a side scheme.
-
Spectrum needs 3 things: an ability to quickly change form, to ready and to survive/heal enemy attacks.
-
Change form with Spectrum events (like Speed of Light) by drawing 2 more cards per turn (Avengers Mansion and Combat Specialist), or by going more often to alter-ego because this deck thwarts a lot.
-
Ready with Ready to Rumble.
-
Tank once or twice with each ally. Heal the rest with your Pulsar form and, mainly, Precision Strike. It's surprisingly effective here!
Other combos and how to play the deck :
-
Don't be afraid when your hit points go very low. When that happens, focus on playing Precision Strike and go to AE (if main scheme is cleared). When you come back, you should be able to Recover by 3, Ready to Rumble, go to Pulsar form to heal 1 more, and then change to one of the other two forms.
-
You can go up to 6 ATK (1 + Gamma + Combat Training + Combat Specialist + Soaring Acrobatics). Try aiming for at least 4 early in the game. Soaring Acrobatics is stronger than #combat training because it can help you thwart your true nemesis: the side schemes :p
-
Depending on the match-up, you'll actually WANT a lower ATK so you can hurt a minion and then defeat them with Precision Strike... But most of the time, you can just give them +4 HP so you shouldn't be frustrated because you hit too hard ^^'
-
Gamma Blast can gain overkill, really handy to not waste your 6 ATK on a 3 HP minion :)
-
Don't hesitate to keep in hand a card that can help you change form next turn. Except Pulsar Shield it so very rarely useful... But I used it depending of the villain so...
-
Play Ready to Rumble whenever possible (don't forget it's Max 1 per player).
Other cards :
- Try to never go above 40-41 cards. I often go a bit above in MC but it is very important to not dilute Spectrum cards.
- Professor X is great to confuse, thwart a side scheme AND take a big hit. Didn't need him most of the time
- Nick Fury is perfect if you still fear the rare turns were you could be stuck with a very bad hand.
- Surprise Attack is a different version of Pitchback, but usually you will be able to trigger Pitchback.
- War Room can be interesting, but didn't need it, even in solo.
Anyway, enjoy, have fun,
and don't forget to drop a like/fav, it's always appreciated :)
