Magneto’s hero pack gave us a critical mass of allies in Basic and Leadership for X-Men not named Cyclops to play a viable deck built around "To Me, My X-Men!". In order to hit with this card consistently, we obviously want a high density of allies in the deck. This made me think to pair the archetype with Storm, whose Thunderstorm Weather card highly incentivizes a go-wide ally strategy.

I'm also proud that this deck includes 0 copies of Make the Call. Would it be better if it did? Probably. Am I happy to be playing a Leadership deck that doesn't automatically include 3 copies? Absolutely.

----------Player Count----------
Any

I tested primarily in solo. This deck has good coverage for all aspects of the game. In multiplayer, Storm increases greatly in power but also in difficulty due to her weather affecting the entire table. Cyclops + Thunderstorm can do an ungodly amount of damage to finish the game with 3-4 players.

----------Credentials----------
I am currently working on a testing gauntlet to provide a consistent measuring stick for the power level, strengths, and weaknesses of any deck or team. All are Standard 1 Expert 1 except where noted. Mods used are the recommended if not separately noted.

(2-0) Zola + Blue Moon [Minion pressure]
(2-0) Red Skull + Crime + Hydra Assault [Thwarting pressure]
(1-0) Absorbing Man + Flight + Standard 3 + Expert 2 [Defend/Heal pressure]
(1-0) Juggernaut [Defend/Heal pressure (alternate)]
(1-0) Magneto [All-around]
(1-0) Ronan [It won everything else, why not give a shot]

FYI I had White Queen in over Cyclops during testing and have only realized now how redundant she is with Clear Skies.

----------Coverage----------
Minions

Schemes

  • Relative weak point of deck, but still manageable from Hurricane and multiple readies of Storm once THW is boosted by Storm's Crown. Prof always a strong play

Damage Mitigation

Burst Damage

  • Strength of deck (and of Storm). Can unleash devastating turns with a flip to Thunderstorm, Lightning Bolt, and multiple ally attacks.

Total Value

  • Deck plays 1 or 2 fewer resource generators (such as The X-Jet) than usual to keep critical ally density for "To Me, My X-Men!", but the high ally count maximizes Uncanny X-Men, which effectively generates 1 or 2 resources a turn, not counting value added from extra hp. All cards played are individually efficient with high upside on certain hits off To Me. This adds up to a strong total value overall.

----------Strategy----------
Don't worry about getting too cute with "To Me, My X-Men!" early in the game. Get out Utopia, Uncanny X-Men, Storm's Crown, and Storm's Cape (often from completing Player Side Schemes) when you have the opportunity, maybe playing an ally or two to help block.

New Recruits really impressed me in this deck. Makes turns smooth being 0-cost and gives flexibility to future turns with an ally-on-demand. I most frequently got Bling! if I was ending that turn in Hero form to get a tough block. I also got Indra a lot for most total value, especially if flipping to alter ego that turn so I didn't feel bad starting to activate him right away. Even got Anole once when I desperately needed the extra thwart.

To maximize playing this deck, it's important to know what you could hit off of "To Me, My X-Men!". If there is a minion in play, try bringing it into a range where M can finish it off before playing To Me (remember that Uncanny gives her +1 hp). Similarly, use an ally on board first in case you might hit Phoenix so you have a target to ready with her ability.

Note the 1x Band Together to be grabbed by Beast.

More a rules thing, but note that Beak and Pixie need to be played from hand to use their abilities, so they don't get triggered off "To Me, My X-Men!". They are still fantastic cards to play normally in a deck this ally-heavy.
