X-Force Mission Completed: X-themed decks for all NeXt/Wave 7 heroes in every aspect vs X-pert NeXt Evolution!
Synopsis:
-
Cable teams up with his uncle Havok utilizing Precognition & Mission Planning to take advantage of his ability without suffering the negative of his consequential damage. With Mission Planning play as many Psychic Kicker as you can in a phase without consequence. It's not unrealistic to get all or most of your OTK from Havok alone.
-
This deck is so fun late game! I am often able to draw Mission Planning, Precognition & a few Psychic Kicker. Whichever of these you don't draw, you can search for easily with X-Bunker. For late-game strategy, keep in mind:
-
Try to get Danger Room Training on Havok.
-
Even if you don't draw Mission Planning, you can still use Precognition to align a zero-boost when Havok would attack and not suffer any consequential damage (baseline he suffers zero).
-
When you do draw Mission Planning, Precognition, & Psychic Kickers, remember you can use Havok to also get rid of extra encounter cards.
-
When you do go for damage and you align a 3-boost, you can get an ATK of 8 with Havok. It's not hard to get multiple Psychic Kicker, I've often drawn 2-3 in a turn with hypothetical damage of an OTK by Havok alone.
-
-
Teamwork with Havok & Gentle (who also benefit from Mission Planning) can also be used to not suffer the drawbacks of the increased consequential damage. With Gentle, he'll give you +3 ATK. Teamwork can also be played to clear Technovirus Purge most notably with Professor X.
-
Start with Technovirus Purge if you get Mind Scan, which you will mulligan hard for in your first hand. Another first turn clear is with Professor X & Teamwork. If not, I go with what I need for board state, keeping in mind I can clear 2 threat PPS and get a free ready.
-
With only 40 cards, after you've got all your Player Side Schemes in the Victory pile you'll easily be able to get the most out of X-Bunker since you've thinned your deck.
-
When playing your player side schemes, if at all possible, don't try to clear more than one in a phase. Especially as you feel you've gotten past that first initial tempo gain and you feel comfortable. Think of these as your Readies, not just side schemes themselves. Also remember that Graymalkin has no limit, so if a normal Side Scheme is in play go ahead and clear multiple.
Cards:
Events:
-
Mission Planning - This card isn't that efficient at first, but once you get a few allies out, it works really well with Psychic Kicker and to keep Havok & Gentle on the board.
-
Teamwork - Another card that keeps your allies on the board. It gets great use when you use with Professor X or Gentle with +3 THW and +3 ATK respectively. It also works well with Technovirus Purge since Cable is able to borrow THW from another ally since only he can thwart that PSS. This also works well with Havok when you don't have Mission Planning or have aligned the boost you want with Precognition.
Player Side Schemes:
-
Build Support - Lots of options here, my priorities are usually: Graymalkin & Team-Building Exercise & X-Bunker.
-
Lock and Load - For Plasma Rifle.
-
Call for Backup - It really depends on board state for which of the higher cost allies I'll grab. For a scenario with minions starting on the board I often grab Gentle.
-
Establish Perimeter - Easy to clear with only 2 threat to consider grabbing first if you can't clear Technovirus Purge. Depends on board state.
Supports:
-
Team-Building Exercise - Really helpful with playing all your Psionic cards.
-
X-Bunker - Once you have some PSS built up, this card is really strong for Cable. With 40 cards and so many PSS, you've thinned your deck and can really grab anything.
Allies:
-
Havok - Really fun card to use with Mission Planning, Precognition, Psychic Kicker & Danger Room Training. Not unrealistic to get an 8 ATK in one swing, multiple with more copies of Psychic Kicker.
-
Gentle - With Danger Room Training you have a 4 ATK to use with Teamwork or use on minions for only one consequential damage. With Mission Planning you can attack the villain, with Psychic Kicker & Danger Room Training you're doing 6 damage.
-
Professor X - Excellent with Teamwork if you can get a first-turn clear Technovirus Purge. If you're able to get Mission Planning down in the same turn, readying an X-Men could help, otherwise confusing the villain is always a great turn.
-
Forge - Can grab X-Bunker to reduce his cost early. I don't play X-Bunker until you have thinned your deck and have more PSS.
-
Pixie - Helpful to grab allies to reduce her cost, grab an ally you want. Or at the very least Mission Planning & Teamwork work well with her ATK so she doesn't die.
Upgrades:
-
Danger Room Training - Increase ATK with readies from Psychic Kicker. Use with Havok & Gentle.
-
Deft Focus - Lots of Superpower cards with Cable.

- Deck: Cable and His Amazing Technocolor Dreamcoat - No X-Men here, all X-Force! He leans more heavily into Teamwork with no Mission Planning. The creative write up is worth checking out alone!

Feb 09, 2024Interesting that there's no Danger Room in this one. Seems like it might be a good fit. |
Feb 09, 2024Awesome looking deck! What sort of changes do you think you would make to it to play in a 3-4 player setting instead of solo? |

Feb 23, 2024Holy cow. This deck is awesome. Havok was an ally that I couldn’t see any possible use for, but you made him look extremely fun and powerful here with Mission Planning. Even more cool it’s Cable’s uncle hahaha |
Love the format of this write up, deck looks good too! I see Mission Planning in a deck and I gotta try it out!
