C'mon, MULLIGAN!

name

Mulligan has gotten a lot of discussion around the community and rightfully so, it is a very fun card. It's also a card that rewards resource sinks, and oh boy does Star Lord love resource sinks and Mulligan!

  • Element Gun - He can get this down turn one, and has 2 of them.
  • C.I.T.T. - offers a great way to ready yourself or an ally
  • Stick-To-Itiveness - another ready! Readying Star Lord is great because with Leader of the Guardians he is thwarting for 3 each time.
  • Deadpool Corps Ship - helps PUT those great 'Pool aspect allies into play, which is important as that will not count as having played a card from hand. Also will trigger Knowhere
  • Blackout - Cheap and great resource sink. Will usually provide one confuse a game. Don't view this as 6 resources for 6 threat and a confuse. With Mulligan most of those resources are "free".
  • Tic-Tac-Toe - An even better resource sink than Blackout. This has a lot of flexibility, being able to move damage from Star Lord or from an ally. Also is very helpful in getting the 'Pool resources back to full strength if you incurred a bit of damage.

Any of the above are great to pour your resources into and then play Mulligan with What Could Go Wrong?! The crazy cool thing with Star Lord is that Star-Lord's Helmet actually gives you a bigger hand than what you started with.

Take the resources, put them down. Now it's time, to MULLIGAN!

That is the main conceit of the deck! Pour resources into cards you have on the table, Mulligan, draw back up and do more Star Lord things. Turns out taking effectively 2 turns is pretty good!

If nothing else if you had a 6 HS hand and spent 5 resources on CITT, Stick-To-Itiveness, and both copies of Element Gun that is a pretty good turn, and we haven't even played Mulligan yet!

PS. one little tip is if you drew Mulligan in your opening hand then use your AE ability to swap it with the top card of the deck instead of mulliganing it.

How come no IPAC to go with your Build Support and to build even larger hand sizes? Great deck!

Haha could be a good pick, I just rather get other cards with Build Support. If nothing else I would rather go grab Bad Boy.

I've seen this deck clear 4p schemes and then draw an entire new hand and keep going!

Oh wow I didn't even think about him giving all the Deadpool allies the Guardian trait, that's amazing!

I may be misunderstanding this comment: "Normally I would recommend spending everything you can before Mulliganing, but because Star Lord will draw back up to a bigger hand size it is actually worthwhile to hold onto a card in some situations. Like say you have Self Confidence and Cutupper in hand, that's a pretty good couple of cards and would likely be better than most things you'd draw."

Mulligan makes you discard your hand when you play it. So as I understand it you can't hold onto a card. Did I miss something, or was this a small oversight in the write-up? Nevertheless, excellent deck concept.

Also, using the Deadpool Corps Ship to put an ally into play won’t trigger Knowhere, which requires an ally to be played. Still, cool and fun deck!
