This was a specially designed deck for Master Mold, which means flipping back to alter-ego is a dangerous proposition without an Armor Up in hand. MVP ally was Hulk for damage, which I admittedly got lucky with the forced response card draws more often than not coming up fists. Ironheart and Forge helped with 4 hand size, and Throg was good for soaking hits while removing toughs. Shadowcat was just a bit too expensive for what she does, but Magik was a better option with her ability to deal with sentinel minions effectively.
Events were kept simple enough with the Colossus options, combined with Limitless Stamina and Skilled Strike. Having some luck with Into the Fray during practice rounds, but it just proved too expensive for a four hand size. The final optional events chosen resulted in less damage overall, but left me with other options during a turn. Beyond that, I found Made of Rage was just too good to pass up, even with toughs hard to come by in a flip-resistant encounter. Steel Fist is a solid enough, albeit uninspired without it's stun and confuse which was impossible against Master Mold, unnecessary for minions because of Magneto, and too expensive a cost of a tough card. Invulnerability needed to come out, there is barely any way this was going to work, and it never came out.
Resources included a single Audacity for pinging off toughs, but also provided the occasional last bit of damage for a minion or the villian, which was always appreciated.
X-Mansion was the first card I could have dropped. It never made it out in games that lasted less than 5 turns, and it was really only there to act as a fetch card for Forge, making him a poor man's #Ironheart.
All the added upgrades were nice to haves, but not strictly needed to win since this deck was focused on speed. Honorary X-Men was the most used for its low cost and ability to keep Magneto in the game. Attack training was only useful in games that got out of hand. Combat Training is great early, as is Deft Focus, both of which pair nicely with Limitless Stamina. Plan B changed the nature of decision making in a game as I found myself trying to save that one last card for a 100% "random" choice, but I needed a few more ways for low cost tough removal.
A few words on Colossus's included upgrades. That first Organic Steel is non-negotiable. Without it, there is almost no way to use your Bulletproof Protectors to upgrade to two toughs, which is major for Titanium Muscles resource generation. Iron Will was not usable in this deck because you do not want to be flipping much. If you do flip, better have a guaranteed Armor Up.
Anyway this is my deck for a speed run against Master Mold. The best I did was a turn 3 win with 5 threat on the main scheme, full Colossus health, a couple hit points left for Magneto, and no minions or side schemes left over. I don't think there is any way this deck comes away clean without a lot of luck, but it does come away fast!
