A Change of Shape, A Change of Fortune

I have a feeling there are a lot of Lonewolf Hulkling decks being built this week, but this is mine! It doesn't use all the new cards, but Ronin, Stand Alone, and In Harm's Way are key parts of the deck. The lonewolf cards work well with Hulkling. I often run him with only 1-2 allies, and Wiccan's amazing enter play ability means he isn't meant to stick around.

Since his debut last fall, Hulkling quickly rose to become my favorite hero in Marvel Champions. I love building around his different shapes, or building decks where changing between shapes is desired. For this deck, you really want to stay in Armored Shape for the game. You probably won't defend the entire table with this deck, but can get 2-3 good defends a turn I would imagine. You have several ways to declare yourself the defender without exhausting-- "I Can Do This All Day", Cuts Both Ways, Armored Defense, and then the Stand Alone upgrade will get you readied up to defend yourself if you have exhausted for a previous defense (and if Wiccan isn't out of course).

I suppose the gameplan is pretty evident- boost up Hulkling's basic defense using Innate Reflexes Defensive Conditioning, and Armored Vest . This will give him a 6 DEF and 16 beefy hit points. From there, In Harm's Way becomes an excellent card to play, and Hulkling has the resources to do so. Ronin and Electrostatic Armor brings his retaliate up to 3, while "Stop Hitting Yourself" and Armored Defense can easily finish off a minion to trigger Change of Fortune, a priority upgrade in this deck. Cuts Both Ways is a great card to play at the beginning of the round to get Retaliate up to 4. And any pesky minion still standing can be cut down by Excelsior. The nice thing about Excelsior's response is that you can direct the damage to any enemy to possibly defeat another minion before they attack or scheme. Honestly, I'm not sure the sword is really needed, but it is Hulkling's sword! But for a 40 card purist, that would be the card I would choose to nix.

NOTE: I totally forgot Unflappable--- ugh! I might sub that in for Excelsior, or just run 42 cards :)
