Gunboat Diplomacy 4: Mutant Protectors

In this next installment in the franchise, Wonder Man teams up with X-Men and X-Force allies to defend everyone, with a little Gunboat Diplomacy on the side.

The allies are essentially two pairs: Rogue & Rockslide; Polaris & Warpath. Rogue draws from Rockslide's 6 hit point pool to use his 3 ATK essentially halving the consequential damage. Polaris enters play putting another tough status card on Warpath, who wants to defend and take no damage so that Wonder Man can play Ionic Blast to trigger Change of Fortune or Starstruck to stun an enemy. Muster Courage is an Avenger-restricted event to put a tough on Warpath and (in stage II or III) Rockslide to safely utilize his retaliate damage.

Heal and ready in the hero phase with Game Time. Avoid further consequential damage in a Unified Strike. As the allies are slowly worn down, even with Protective Training, return them to hand and put them back in play with Mutant Mayhem. Render Medical Aid to heal allies and/or Wonder Man.

Simon Williams (Earth 58163, House of M) claims he gained his powers during an industrial accident, but not even he truly remembers how he became Wonder Man. While the "House of M" (and "No More Mutants") event removed powers from thousands of mutants, Wonder Man's ionic energy form, which makes him nearly immortal and invulnerable, is not linked to the X-gene. Although he is not an official mutant, he has been embraced by the mutant community as one of their own.
