Avengers Entourage

Wonder Man is famous (aka Mr. Hollywood)! But he hasn't forgotten his fellow Avengers. He jets them to his location, puts them up in a custom-built guest house, and throws a party to celebrate their visit. Sometimes, the party gets to be too wild and Wonder Man has to send them back home to sober up and calm down.

Main Strategy

The strategy is to play Avenger allies to control the board while you find your supports and upgrades (Signature Sunglasses, Wonder Fans are the most important).

It's also important to set up some resource generators (Quincarrier, Jet Belt, and Mr. Hollywood are the main ones) and some health generators (i.e. Crew Quarters, Jarvis, Down Time).

All Leadership cards?

I know that one of the cool things about Wonder Man is his AE ability which allows you to build a deck using events across all aspects. However, this deck doesn't need other cards for two reasons:

  • Set-up intensive: Most of your turns/resources will be spent playing supports, upgrades, and allies.
  • Deck space: This deck is already close to the maximum deck size. If deck size is less of a concern for you, then you can add some copies of your favourite event(s).

Why choose Wonder Man for this build?

This Avengers deck can likely be played by most Avenger heroes. Yet, I like it in Wonder Man for the following reasons:

  • Energy Siphon: There are 2 copies of a potential 4R resource card. And you can recur them with Signature Sunglasses. So you can confidently afford to play set up cards and allies.
  • Toolkit approach: You can fine-tune a Wonder Man deck by adding copies of events that you feel suit the scenario/role you're playing.
  • Event recursion: You can recur events with Signature Sunglasses. Consequently, you can add single copies of situational cards and store up to 3 of them under Signature Sunglasses until you need them. And if you never need them, then they stay under the sunglasses and you'll never draw them on subsequent deck passes.
  • Strong kit events: Wonder Man has some good kit events; particularly Active Altruism which can remove 5 threat and Ionic Blast which can do 9 damage. His Signature Sunglasses can be used to recur them strong events.
  • Managing health: Wonder Man uses his hp as a resource (Energy Siphon. He also doesn't have any defense events, which makes him kinda squishy even though he has 12hp. Blocking villain attacks with allies on their last hp is very helpful in keeping Wonder Man alive and capable of using Energy Siphons multiple times throughout a game.

Love it! Wonder Man is rapidly climbing the ranks for me. Also, awesome guide to making a CDB post here, very helpful!

Thank you. The guide/template was created by an Arkham Horror LCG player, named Valentin1331. I enjoy it!

WM is fun to play when he has his Signature Sunglasses and Wonder Fans in play early. He can struggle assembling his economy since his events are deceptively mid-to-expensive (their most effective costs are mostly 2-3R, compared to their 0-1 printed costs).

He can also struggle with managing his health. As you - and others - have said on Discord, Defiance can be a good card to help address this issue. Call me greedy... I'd rather prevent the entire villain attack (5+ damage) by chump blocking with an ally than play Defiance. :P
