DESIGN
Sticking to a traditional 40-card deck just gives you peace of mind that things will cycle frequently. Added to this the fact that ideally, if you get to play all the player side schemes out, and most of your supports and upgrades, then the chances of hitting Deadpool's strike events will become all the more frequent.
Deadpool doesn's need allies to survive, but the ones included here work into the concept of his deck and hero mechanic.
Bishop is a handy thwarter, but as Deadpool likes being attacked, there's a good opportunity for Bishop to charge up and deal a bit of burst damage if needed;
Colossus has been included mainly for theme...but if you don't want Wade to take any damage to give him a bit of respite, then Piotr's your guy;
Manifold has been added for his healthy 2THWT but also because he can pull a player side scheme for you;
Professor X is added for his ability to confuse as well as his huge 3THWT and chump block ability;
Wraith is an important ally so try to play him if you have a chance. He can cancel a boost ability (i.e deal indirect damage) which could be a game-ender for Deadpool...! Chances are low, but there's always a chance...
KEY CONCEPTS
The main concept here was to shore up any way that Deadpool can die - via a boost ability or an encounter card.
With Great Responsibility, Deadpool will be flipping down alot which leaves him vulnerable to encounter cards and boost abilities.
Stepford Cuckoos, Predictable Ploy, to a lesser extent Metaknowledge and #Wraith are all the cards that can prevent this most annoying of loss conditions.
The second concept is to play into the confuse-lock strategy, more so to deal more damage through Float Like a Butterfly.
Once Float Like a Butterfly and Armed to the Teeth is in play, use your first Sonic Rifle to confuse the enemy, then ( using Armed to the Teeth) swap it out with your other Sonic Rifle to deal 4 damage. Coupled with Deadpool's Katana's, that's a further 3 damage for each katana, giving you a 10 damage attack.
RECOMMENDED
This deck doesn't play into Deadpool's obvious mechanics (in dealing damage at least), but instead focuses on his penchant for weapons and his knck for not dying.
You aren't going to die from indirect damage straight away, so don't rush to try and get Wraith, Predictable Ploy and Stepford Cuckoos, but be mindful that if you use Great Responsibility too much and find yourself in alter-ego alot...then you are asking for trouble!
Of course, some scenarios don't have encounter cards that deal the dreaded 'indirect damage'...but to gather that peace of mind by at least havin gthe Cuckoo sisters out, is a nice feeling indeed.
Keep an eye on the encounter cards that can kill Wade in alter ego ( Concussive Blast, The Wastes of Niffleheim, Hack 'n' Slash to name a few) and note when they are in the discard pile. This will ensure that you don't end up in alter-ego when you are vulnerable and just leaves Wade to do as a mercenary does...and go for the kill shot!
