Magik is very powerful. Maybe one of the most powerful heroes in the game. Her hero ability reduces the cost of cards, and essentially expands your hand size by one (ramp and card advantage to my MTG players out there). Making a strictly powerful Magik deck can be fun, but personally, I would rather try to build something that capitilizes on her power by enabling some of the cards in my collection that don't see as much play.
Fluid Motion is a cool card. Maybe a little hard to make work. Especially with multiple copies. Playing multiple attack events to raise your attack stat is cool, but inherently uses a lot of resources/cards, and any time you raise your ATK you want to get an extra ready if at all possible. It's really hard to get all of it done in one turn. Enter Magik; between the extra card you have access to, the reduced cost of that card, the potential 3 base attack with Soulsword, and the readies attached to her three copies of Stepping Disc, you are looking at a character who can both activate multiple fluid motions and squeeze in an extra ready or two all in one turn. It's a thing of beauty.
Lots of underutilized cards are in this deck. They are made interesting, exciting, and even pretty darn good by the context of this list. Let's talk about two cards that rarely make it out of the binder.
Enhanced Physique- This card is generally 3 ER for 3 resources paid out between 3 later turns. Snores. When you play it off the top of her deck though, it is 1 ER. Hoochie Moochie. It can even refund itself that very turn. It also helps increase the number of physical resources in this deck which allows you to turn on more stuns via Soul Strikeand power up the soulsword with more consistency. A cheap as free resource generator (even a temporary one) is a great thing to have when you are trying to fire off multiple 1-cost attack events and/or 1-cost readies per turn.
Press the Advantage- Magik is excellent at Stuns (and Confuses). Press the advantage becomes an excellent way to trigger fluid motion for 1 or 0 ER (once you account for the card draw) and manipulate the top of Magik's deck while you're at it. It feels great.
If you want to power this deck up or play it in solo, you can use utopia and x-men allies, but 1. I paired this with a storm leadership deck that was using that x-men package and 2. The point of this deck was to do something different.
I really hope you try this deck out. It works well, but more importantly it's extremely fun and uses some of the underutilized cards I really enjoy.
Enjoy!
