This is an updated version of my Protection Venom deck, circa 'Civil War' card pool. While I've switched over to a leadership build, I re-created this in marvelcdb to aid another player. Please note that not all cards are always available as I keep all my heroes built.
This Venom build has been incredibly successful in the past. It leans more towards thwarting, but still has some steady damage output. Like most protection builds, most of the fun stuff happens during the villain phase:
SCENARIO 1 The villain attacks you. Exhaust both your Venom's Pistol upgrades and defend for 6. Net 2 cards from Spider-Sense and Unflappable, remove 3 threat from the main scheme with Hard to Ignore and threat off side schemes with Containment Strategy attached. Player phase, use Multigun for whatever you need it for.
SCENARIO 2 The villain attacks you. Use Desperate Defense and defend for 6, like much in scenario 1. You undoubtedly ready, so your pistols are available for you to help block for another player, or activate with on the hero phase.
SCENARIO 3 Similar to above, you use Expert Defense along with Indomitable to defend for 7, ready, and have your pistols available for further use.
SCENARIO 4 You either draw into Grasping Tendrils or use the one Jocasta held for you to stop villain activations, and still have your pistols available to use. Less card draw though but it's worth it.
In addition, on the off-chance your Shadows of the Past goes off and the deck gets swarmed with Enraged Symbiote cards, you have a couple copies of Anticipation in case you ended up defending and one gets revealed later, so you can just punch it in the schnoz.
The new addition (along with Defensive Conditioning for more hit points for Symbiotic Bond ability) is "Stop Hitting Yourself"; it gives a few more physical resources for Grasping Tendrils, plus the opportunity to crack back for 6-7 damage.
It works in solo but I've used it in Multiplayer many times to help keep the board state fairly under control the whole game, and give players the option to have me block for them regularly or just get extra attacks/thwarts out there. Keep that galaxy guarded, space knight!
