This deck is the fruit of listening to The Shadow of the Cast episode with special guest boomguy talking about preparing for convention play. I've never been to an MC convention and never played with more than one other actual person, so this is not a definitive deck but more of a proof of concept.
In the podcast episode, a talking point was playing a deck that supports the other players at the table. One suggestion was to include Alliance-traited cards. Who better to bring one for everyone than Adam Warlock.
This deck has the Avengers/Guardian alliance cards in each aspect: As One!, Problem Solvers, Joining Forces, and Stand Together. The basic Cosmic Alliance is included for kicks. Sorcerer Supreme is here to increase hand size to help pay for these cards. Deft Focus makes it easier for Adam Warlock to still get his very effective superpower cards in play, especially Mystic Senses.
Also in the mix are two allies in each aspect, one Avenger and one Guardian. Since the alliance cards usually require exhausting characters, these low-cost allies help meet this without asking other players to exhaust their hero or a key ally. Additionally, allies were chosen that are not currently heroes or signature allies in other kits in order to avoid violating the unique character rule on key characters.
Drilling down a bit on allies, Bug is a Guardian that can be more easily healed to keep in play for exhausting when at a table with an Avenger hero. Eros and Spider-Girl confuse minions to make it easier for another player (or even AW) to flip down to alter-ego. Jocasta is intended to grab Shield Spell from the discard pile to use on the villain phase without cluttering up Adam Warlock's hand; especially since you need to hold Stand Together as it is a Tactic and not a Defense card. Major Victory can ready AW or a Guardian ally who's been exhausted by an alliance card. Kaluu might help get an alliance-traited event in hand. Starhawk more easily pops back to hand to keep a Guardian ally around for alliance card requirements. Wiccan can discard the top card of the encounter deck to aid heroes like Scarlet Witch, Falcon, or a build that manipulates the encounter deck.
I would toy with bringing ONLY this Adam Warlock deck to the convention. I'd also bring along the X-Men/X-Force alliance cards and appropriate allies to be able to fit in at more tables. Another possibility is to remove one event in each aspect to include supports to play on other players (e.g. Boot Camp, Command Center, Skilled Investigator, Hangar Bay, Ops Center). If someone else is playing a Guardian hero, +Knowhere could be replaced with a Helicarrier, though Adam Warlock would lose an ally slot. Triskelion already adds an additional slot, but can be more easily played on another hero at the table. Having at least four allies in play (ideally two Avengers and two Guardians) means that two alliance cards could be more easily triggered in a single turn. Lastly, if the timing isn't right for these expensive cards, Adam Warlock can discard theme for his Battle Mage ability and still add value. Never a dead card for this cosmic champion!
So when the table needs an all-around support player, remember Adam Warlock, because "Alliance is my middle name."
