Nest of Spiders

This deck was something I'd wanted to do for a while since I had discovered I had never played Gwen in Leadership!

This deck is pretty straight forward and relies on two main concepts:

  • Exploit Gwen's hero ability (i.e looking to include more interrupt/response events);

  • Squeeze as much out of allies before triggering Web-Warrior antics! (I.e recurring allies)

Get Ghost-Spider Up & At 'Em!

Two events have been included in the deck to get Gwen up and ready again after performing a basic action -

Teamwork : A great way to attack or thwart bigger by using your allies. I generally use it for thwarting as Gwen is a little deficient in this...but after readying, you can continue having Gwen attack - or even Ghost Kick if you have it!

Warning: An often overlooked card because...really...it doesn't do much...but for Gwen it essentially gives her 4DEF and a ready, which is pretty powerful in the villain phase

Spider-Verse Looks Out For Gwen

Like many Web-Warrior decks, I'm looking to get as many allies out to help attack/thwart/defend, with the knowledge that when they leave, I'll get to draw a card (which is always a good thing).

Web of Life and Destiny is the main kicker here, but I've also added a couple more cards that work along that same tangent.

Spider-Man 2099 is amazingly good, as not only does Miguel "turn all WW allies into SP//dr" by recurring allies to hand), but he effectively triggers Web of Life and Destiny (like SP//dr) to draw a card...so in theory you could start your hand with 7 cards...!

The ol' classic Regroup does much the same, though under slightly different circumstances - the allies need to chump block to trigger both recursion to hand and card draw.

Another oldie but a goodies is Rapid Response - an ally leaving play (even by consequential damage) will draw you a card (via Web of Life and Destiny ) but will also give you back your ally!

Team-Building Exercise is an auto add in to help with playing allies...its not critical, but if you see it early, go grab it!

A Little Help From the Big Wigs

Finally, I've added a couple of S.H.I.E.L.D cards as we want to make sure Gwen knows she has the good guys behind her.

The Triskelion is here in order to maximise our ally support, whilst;

Command Team is included to either try and get the bigger allies to activate more before being recycled via Spider-Man 2099 or chump blocking. If you need to, you could use Command Team on the cheap allies to use them all up, bring them to hand and draw a card...

R&D Facility (or Leadership Skill as shown in decklist) tries to cash in on Command Team...R&D Facility is better as it amps the base stats of an ally for the whole phase, so if you combo this with Command Team, you're getting 2+ ATK/THWT when your ally ATK/THWTs then readies up to do it again...

What We All Know

I think that this deck typifies is the power of Web of Life and Destiny...it is crucial to play as soon as you can as so much hinges on it...
