Symbiote's Got Your Back

Venoms

I find playing Venom always a fun experience, however I discovered I never had played him in Protection yet! So, with challenge firmly set, I present to you a deck loosely based on the Symbiote's doing all the work - Venom protecting his allies from the enemy, and also the OTHER Venom (Eddie Brock) chiming in to cause all sorts of damage!

The Black Ooze

We all know the Klyntaar are a powerful alien race, and they are more than equipped to protect their host, as well as deal deadly damage.

Try and use Venom's decent hp and his two Venom's Pistols to DEF for 4, and soak up any damage the enemy can dish out. His other heroes card, Grasping Tendrils is also an amazingly strong defense card. Used with physical resources (one of which you can easily grab from Venom's hero ability) you also can just stun the enemy to gain a calmer turn next round.

If you do defend, there is also What Doesn't Kill Me and Indomitable to help you right back up to ensure Venom isn't passive for the next turn. Shake it Off - although intended for Groot - can also be used on Venom to make him all the more tougher next turn too.

One of the mainstays, Unflappable is also included here as there's a good chance Venom can defend for most damage- and so that's an extra card right there, in your hand.

Guardians and Guests Apart from the usual pairing of Guardian allies and their combination with Knowhere (don't forget to exploit Starhawk with Knowhere!), I've also added Spider-Byte for thwarting (and a helluva cheap ally at 0 cost, if all your guns are out!) as well as the most famous of symbiotes - Eddie Brock's Venom! To be fair, I've included Eddie purely because I just wanted to use the card - its never fun having to get an additional encounter card...but if you know there are some big boost encounter cards, it may work in your favour!

Supports to Keep you Going The focus here is to not get Venom exhausted, and so alongside thr previously mentioned Indomitable, I've included The Night Nurse to take away those pesky status tokens. Med Team is included to make sure your ho doesn't get too low, but also to top up your allies, whom you want to keep chipping away at side schemes, minions or even the villain. Hangar Bay is the combo with Groot and Shake it Off - let Groot take the hit, get a tough, then have him defend with the tough next opportunity to heal himself up further!

Finally Ready for a Fight is a small insurance in case you need to flip down and use Project Rebirth 2.0 or to heal. Don't have the villain schemes more than they should - discard Ready for a Fight and get back to defending, to trigger events, support and upgrades to make you stronger!
