Magneto's Precon deck is pretty wild on its own but once you add some of Storm's cards to the deck, he can go bonkers at a moment's notice. With the combined might of Magneto's allies and Storm's best allies, the villain is not going to know what hit them.
With so many options at your disposal of thwarting and attacking, you can multitask as you set up the board. Essentially, 1/4 of your deck is allies since New Recruits gets you a 10th ally, which can be chosen specifically for the villain you are facing. 6 more of your cards deal with either finding those allies or using them to swing big. The big money move once you have Magento's Cape out is to use an ally's power, then swing yourself while playing You Got This. This can lead to basically wiping out an entire villain's stage in solo.
This deck is still a work in progress as I pick up more cards and sets. The X-Jet is in there because I wanted something else for Forge to find besides Utopia. X-Gene is mainly because there are 6 identity specific events and I feel like I can get value out of it. I may drop to 2 You Got This and back in a Make The Call in order to balance out the discarding allies versus getting them back.
Version 2.0 - Well, I've tried some modifications to original version since I picked up Cyclops. I did drop down to a single "You Got This" thanks to adding a Make the Call and Teamwork into the deck. Teamwork allows you to save an ally for a blocker while getting use out of their power. I also added Danger Room and Danger Room Training to potentially get more use out of your allies but I haven't quite seen great use out of that yet since I haven't had to flip down a lot in my couple of games.
On the ally front, Angel and Beast join the team. Mirage has left the team for now since she was rarely hitting her ability outside of low end villains and minions. If only Iceman was a Leadership ally, I could have the original X-men. In an ideal world, you get Uncanny X-Men out and then Beast but I played Beast on turn 1 in my 1st game with him in the deck; that game went smashingly as you can play him plus any other 3 cost card on turn 1 thanks to Magnetic Pull.
Deft Focus, X-Gene, and Endurance left because I think they were too much in terms of setup for Magento. I am considering going to a 50 card deck because of this discard but that will require a lot more testing. I also hope this deck works out for players who don't want to invest in a lot of decks since it still only requires 4 packs: Core Set, Cyclops, Storm, and Magento.
