Panther Tenacity

Shuri vs Expert Magneto Playthrough

This is a custom deck request by one of my channel members, alexisyaghil3136. He wanted me to craft a Shuri deck that maximizes her basic activations to trigger her hero response without using Repurpose since he's not a big fan of that card so that's what this deck is all about. Huge shoutouts to Alexis for his support and for allowing me to share this deck publicly because I'm really excited for it :)

Tenacity & Ready to Rumble

This list is designed to utilize Shuri's hero ability more often to trigger the special on Black Panther upgrades. One of the cards we'll be using to do that is Ready to Rumble which synergizes perfectly with Shuri. Her alter-ego ability: Inventor lets us grab a Black Panther upgrade from the deck and play it for 2 cost cheaper, but the cost to use this powerful ability is getting exhausted. This stunts Shuri the turns she uses it because she won't be able to use a basic activation and trigger the Black Panther upgrade's special the turn that it's tutored by Inventor. Ready to Rumble is the perfect card to allow Shuri to immediately ready back up when flipping to hero form, then use her basic activation and get full value from that Black Panther upgrade right away. Tenacity is expensive for what it does, but with Shuri's high economy and her need for more activations, Tenacity can serve as a powerful on-demand ready.

Why Justice?

Instead of using Stick-to-Itiveness from the 'Pool aspect or What Doesn't Kill Me from protection for our readies, Ready to Rumble requires that Shuri flip up from alter-ego...and being in alter-ego is great because Shuri has the best healing card in the game in Queen Ramonda (sorry Aunt May) and one of the best draw engines in The Elephant's Trunk. Both of these powerful supports are alter-ego actions and cannot be used in hero form. Playing in justice gives us access to Under Surveillance to increase the threat threshold on the main scheme and Sonic Rifles to confuse the villain (Sonic Rifles also synergize really well with Shuri because its a tech upgrade she can grab with Inventor). In addition to this, we want to capitalize on that powerful Genius trait and lean into Ingenuity and Moon Girl which can only played in alter-ego for Shuri. Playing in Justice allows Shuri to flip down safely more often which increases the consistency of all of the powerful alter-ego only cards in this deck.

Mental, Physical, and Wild Resources

Every card in this deck but 9 are either mental, physical, or wild resources to power up Moon Girl and Tenacity. We're playing Moon Girl every time we draw her to use her powerful ability and Tenacity gives us that extra push to ready right when we need it most. To maximize this, we excluded Okoye (energy resource) and the basic Energy resource since Shuri has Vibranium as a substitute.

So Much Confuses & Float Like a Butterfly

Flipping down every turn to capitalize on the power of Ready to Rumble/The Elephant's Trunk/Queen Ramonda/ is crucial so we have 5 cards in this list that can confuse enemies (Kimoyo Beads, Professor X, Sonic Rifle x3). Kimoyo Beads are easy to recur with Aja Adanna and Sonic Rifles have 2 uses per rifle. With so many different ways to confuse enemies, Float Like a Butterfly is an obvious choice to increase burst damage (one of Shuri's weaknesses) while synergizing with her multiple instances of damage since Panther Claws and Vibranium Suit count as attacks.

Dora Milaje & The Elephant's Trunk

The Dora Milaje are here to fuel The Elephant's Trunk. Without the Dora Milaje support and the Wakandan allies, the only exhaustible targets in Shuri's kit are Queen Ramonda and T'Challa, both of which have amazing effects that we want to use. The Dora Milaje package helps us get the full value out of The Elephant's Trunk and are powerful when they're in play together. Getting full value out of The Elephant's Trunk also makes Tenacity easier to afford.

Wasn't hugely excited for the pack since I wasn't a big fan of OG BP T'challa's mechanics but you are getting me hyped with this list.

@Ronaldtang09 wooo that’s so cool to hear :)

I’m also not the biggest fan of T’Challa’s kit because every turn I’m not playing Wakanda Forever feels bad if i have his upgrades in play. I will say Shuri feels like a modern Black Panther with much more accessibility to those specials on the Black Panther upgrades

May want to consider Atlas Bear if you're wanting to fuel elephants trunk. I've been utilizing them in my Shuri builds, AE can exhaust for the trunk and in hero can potentially grab an event

@Castlefrank47 That’s a great consideration! There’s not too many events in this deck, but Atlas Bear’s printed mental resource is good for Moon Girl and it fuels the Elephant’s Trunk like you said. I just wish it had a special like the Dora Milaje. I ended up cutting out Okoye because of her printed energy resource :(

This is Alexis and boy did this deck build not disappoint. Took my very little number of instructions "Don't use repurpose to ready" and really ran with it making an incredibly fun deck as a result!

@Swarles90 haha thank you! I was prioritizing Silk and wasn’t even planning on crafting anything for Shuri but I was really thinking on what you were looking for and how to get the readying you wanted and am really happy with how this deck turned out. Sincerely appreciate you!

with the focus on basic activations, would Upside the Head be a good addition? also a mental resource and a confuse or stun

May 06, 2025 Web-Warrior Fanatic · 22744

@CANAS1AN I wouldn't recommend Upside the Head for extra confuses because we already have an abundance of that status in this deck with the Sonic Rifles. Sonic Rifle is a more reliable and powerful confuse because it's an on demand upgrade with 2 uses (usually the drawback is its expensive cost but Shuri doesn't have that issue because her alter-ego ability makes it really easy to play). But if you're looking to add more stuns I definitely think Upside the Head can be a good addition because the enemy will usually already be confused, then they would be stun and confuse locked!

I love seeing use cases for Tenacity

May 07, 2025 Web-Warrior Fanatic · 22744

@mournful yesss I ran it recently with Hawkeye and it was a difference maker haha. I still don’t think Tenacity is a great card, but I love it with Shuri with her high economy to afford it

@Web-Warrior FanaticI would be interested in seeing that Hawkeye list! I tried running the popular Brute Force deck but something felt off and it relied heavily on Quick Strike. marvelcdb.com

@Ronaldtang09 Here's the list: marvelcdb.com

I played it against the Thunderbolts and Tenacity was definitely MVP haha. Here's the game showcasing the deck: www.youtube.com

I tried this and made minor changes for thematic reasons. Swapped out Nick, Prof and Blindfold, and added Okoye, Energy, and Superpower Training. Tested a few times and I love it, great work! Didn't replicate the 33 damage, but still a fun game.

This deck is super strong, much stronger than I expected. Although I think the draw allies are overkill, the deck draws plenty on it's own.

I also added Chamber because he can deal damage forever if you keep the Villain confused.

May 14, 2025 Web-Warrior Fanatic · 22744

@UrinalSharts Thanks for the feedback! Totally love those changes and glad to hear you enjoyed the deck :)

@phtephen Thank you and yea I agree the draw can be overkill a lot of the time. It's difficult to balance because I felt it to be necessary against the tougher scenarios. Chamber has really good synergy for Shuri's confuselock but I think the ally slots can be a little restrictive with the Dora Milaje. You can definitely make the case for Chamber though!

I was really impressed with Shuri in the deck I threw together for her and see a lot of potential in her. This deck really seems to tap into that. Also, your realization that she is one of the few heroes who can actually run Tenacity opens up some real doors in deckbuilding for her.

May 15, 2025 Web-Warrior Fanatic · 22744

@LACK OF SUBTLETY I agree Shuri's potential feels very high. She has so many cool synergies in different aspects and is a perfect fit for Tenacity!

I've just played this deck against Morlock siege and it's the most fun I've had in 9 months of playing Marvel champions. I want to play the same scenario immediately. Massive credit to the design of Shuri and Web warrior fanatic for an awesome and very easy to play deck.

@Chris0073 woooo thanks Chris! That’s an honor to hear haha. Appreciate the kind words and most importantly glad you had fun!

Played my first game with this deck and got to see how it plays when put on the back foot. I was taking on Expert Mr. Sinister w/Power of the Atom. He didn't begin Steady so the plan was to keep him confused and on his first scheme while Domino wore down damage and Shuri built up. Didn't happen. Radioactive man's side scheme came out and bought enough time for Sinister to get Super Strength, turn Steady and keep both heroes scrambling for Hp the rest of the game. We still got him halfway through his second stage before our luck ran out. The deck ran great even losing a lot of its' focus and Queen Ramonda's healing was critical to staying alive and still functioning.
