Hard times call for hardened operatives. For this mission, Nick Fury, Sr. calls in the best: Black Widow. Mockingbird. Winter Soldier.

Different agents, different skills, but one thing unites them: they're always ready for a fight.

Key New Interactions

Ready for a Fight, of course, is the new hotness and a star in this deck. Here's a primer on how it works:

  1. When the villain schemes (against any player), you may trigger Ready for a Fight. Place it in the discard pile and begin to resolve it.

  2. Since Ready for a Fight has just been discarded, you may trigger Practiced Plan, returning Ready for a Fight to your hand and triggering Black Widow's Widowmaker — but only if you are in hero form at this point, which is unlikely.

  3. Then, flip to hero form (if you weren't in hero form already). The villain attacks you. You may exhaust to defend, etc. (It's quite possible that during this attack you may use something like Attacrobatics, which may be a better target for Practiced Plan.)

  4. Now, Ready for a Fight will have finished resolving, so you may use Widowmaker to deal damage and Synth-Suit to ready if necessary.

Change of Fortune is a very fun card but triggering it all of the time is not the point — get it out and trigger it when you can. If you are playing with another Protection hero or a hero who likes to defend and deal damage in the villain phase, consider adding a second copy of Change of Fortune or even Unflappable to set up someone else, too.

Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons are incredible for building out your economy. There's not really explaining to do here, just enjoy! I have never had such ease playing so many of Black Widow's cards before, especially Synth-Suit, which you'll notice is a Tech (as are the Gauntlets, Grappling Hooks, and Widow's Bites).

• Enjoy Nick Fury, Sr. for the bursty threat removal and a tough status on Natasha Romanoff or Mockingbird.

• Remember you can use Black Widow's own tech like Grappling Hooks to trigger Repurpose when you're ready. A cool combo involves "Come Get Me, Bub!" when you attack or thwart, Repurpose to ready and boost Black Widow's stats then attack or thwart again, perhaps Repurpose a second time to ready and boost and attack or thwart again, finally "Come Get Me, Bub!" summons a minion, triggering Widow's Bite, triggering Synth-Suit to ready again, allowing Black Widow to attack or thwart once more.

Ready for a Fight and Practiced Plan are such game changers for Widow. Love this deck.

@Proust Just took a look at your deck and the comments: yes, you have it exactly right as long as our Discord conversation is fully correct (which I’m confident on). I don’t fault them for having the opposite idea: before clarification on Discord, I would not have known Ready for a Fight resolves as late as it does, nor that Widowmaker / Synth-Suit trigger when they do, either. I imagine JS or someone has it in for official response from FFG, but it seemed definitive already from what we know.
