Gumbo Diplomacy

Alright, I'm gonna level with you here. I came up with the name long before I came up with the actual deck. Here's what we've got based on that concept!

Deck summary

• Get Children of the Atom down as soon as possible
• Play Danger Room and get allies with Mission Training set up
• Gunboat Diplomacy for 6 thwart and 6 damage (plus or minus 1 depnding on your allies)

What are we cooking up?

It's another Gunboat Diplomacy deck. You've seen them before, the idea is the same, get some X-men and some X-force out so you can play Gunboat Diplomacy, a really power card that requires setup to be good. Why Gambit? Because Danger Room is a direct boost to Gunboat Diplomacy's power by giving allies higher thwart, and more hp; and because Gambit loves to hang out in alter-ego, so there's plenty of opportunity to trigger Danger Room and Cerebro.

There are 2 copies of Children of the Atom in the deck because you really must get it down in the first deck pass. Pete Wisdom can't even be played until Atom kidz is down, and since the majority of the allies are x-men, it's hard to trigger Gunboat Diplomacy without it.

Danger Room is also a priority on the first deck pass. Cerebro, Utopia and X-Mansion are nice, but not essential. If Utopia gets onto the table, be sure to play Honorary X-Men on gambit in hero form so that he can still benefit from the ready when flipped down to alter ego. Utopia is probably the best of these three to get down because of the ally limit increase.

Don't bother with Gambits identity specific upgrades on the first pass, unless you have nothing better to play. Endurance is in there so gambit can take a hit or two without dying; you don't want to be chump blocking with your carefully curated allies.

Bring friends to dinner!

This deck is okay in solo, and much better in multiplayer. Multiplayer is better because your friends can buy you a little time to set up your gunboats, and also because if a friend has X-force or x-men allies out they can exhaust as one of the gunboat costs! (Deadpool's signature Cable ally is amazing for this)

Cutting board

at different points in testing I had Moira MacTaggert, The X-Jet, and Beauty and the Thief in this deck. They got cut to get down to 40 so we cycle the deck as fast as possible to get to Gunboats, and to speed up setup, but try them out if it fits you play style better! There are also plenty of other X-allies that could slot in just fine if you wanted to use them.
