A.B.D. Always Be Defending.
This deck is designed for a 4-player X-Men team.
Shadowcat is here to take the heat off her teammates while they stay in hero form. The primary strategy is to intercept attacks, negate the damage with Phased or Tough, and then ready up to defend again.
Updates
- +1 Shadow and Steel (combo with Colossus teammate)
- -1 Side Step
Defense events
- Counter-Punch - Shadowcat staple. Allows Shadowcat to flip back over to Phased.
- Never Back Down - Protect your team by stunning the enemy. Easy to achieve the condition using Phased/Tough.
- Perseverance - Use when forced to flip into Solid to stay safe.
- Powerful Punch - Another staple. Counts as both an Attack and Defense for phasing shenanigans.
- Preemptive Strike - Primarily here for the "defense" tag. Allows Shadowcat to intercept attacks without using her basic activation.
- Side Step - Prevent 3 damage for cheap. Optional.
Allies
This deck revolves around having a hand full of defense events, so allies are kept at a minimum.
Resources
The mana curve is pretty low, so doubles have been omitted. Defense Energy is included because it will always always be possible to get free value from it.
Supports
All of the key X-Men support cards have been given to her teammates. Kitty doesn't mind; she just wants to keep drawing defense events.
Upgrades
Electrostatic Armor is here for a little bit of ping damage, which may help knock off Tough statuses and kill chump minions. Ready to Rumble allows us to intercept attacks for multiple teammates in the same round.
Notable omissions
Similar decks run Defiance, Deft Focus, Flow LIke Water, and Hard to Ignore. Simply put, I don't have a complete collection. Feel free to swap these in according to taste.
Additional notes
This deck is specifically created for a team that includes Colossus. If not playing with him, swap out Shadow and Steel.
