“A Red Mage is a character known to have attributes of both a physical combatant, as well as a wizard, capable of using both destructive magic and healing spells. In short, it's capable of doing 3 different jobs at once, making it a one-man team by itself.” -Some guy on google
- Physical attacks - Clobber, Melee, Full-Body Charge
- Black Magic - Soul Strike, Basic Spell (damage)
- White Magic - Basic Spell (heal), Triage
Playstyle
The goal with this deck is straightforward—control the board then go for the kill once Honed Technique is set up. Here’s the build priority for this deck:
Versatility
Magik’s versatility is off the rails. Magik can put out massive damage and control minions with Honed Technique + Clobber/Melee, she can stun/confuse enemies with her utility, and with the addition of Basic Spell she can even sustain herself and heal in hero form. With The Sorcerer Supreme giving her a +1 hand size in hero form, she can constantly apply pressure to the villain without ever needing to flip down to alter-ego.
High Tempo Buildout
I opted for 2x Power in All of Us because I wanted to prioritize the basic upgrade/supports. Allies which kept control the board are mostly basic in this deck as well. Once these cards are set up, we are ready to do damage! Attack events like Melee and Full-Body Charge become easy to pay for late game when everything is set up. If you want to swap out Power in All of Us for Power of Aggression, I would recommend not prioritizing building as much and swapping in more aggression allies. I also recommend using cards with mental resources to increase thwart potential with Magik's Crown and confusing with Exorcism.
50 Card Deck
I recently got Scarlet Witch for the first time, and playing her with 3 Spiritual Meditations I found myself decking out way too quickly. For Magik, Spiritual Meditations is a great target for her alter-ego ability since it's a spell. This helps her fish through the deck for whatever she needs at the current moment and 50 cards helps her avoid constantly decking out and getting that extra encounter card.
Conclusion
Magik is still a very new hero so I’m sure there’s many undiscovered combos with her. When I saw her cards, I immediately thought she would be the ultimate red mage and this is the build I jumped to. Let me know if this list worked well for you and what cool tech you’re doing with Magik!

Can't wait to see your Magik decks with Hulk and in 'Pool. The shenanigans with 'Pool cards looks really fun too. It reminds me a little of Domino with 'Pool. |

Mar 31, 2024Magik is great for the Red Mage archetype, especially when a Basic Spell is her top deck card! |
Magik has been on my wishlist for a long time and I am not disappointed. She's absolutely awesome! I've been running her in red with utilizing Hulk to get that fist resource. Lot of fun with that too plus you can give him Honorary X-Men and Attack training! I've also really enjoyed her in the pool aspect utilizing her abilities to abuse Rock, Paper, Scissors and war. Can't wait to try this one!
