In our first go around, Ghost Spider was at her best in protection, and Miles was good at Justice. But with Wave 7 cards, let’s do things differently this time. So differently.

Gwen can thwart! Making an Entrance boosts her thwart to a 3, readies her, and lets her draw a card with Web-Bracelet. In solo, this makes player side schemes even better, because she can finish the side scheme, heal, and get the side scheme bonus.

Otherwise, she can Phantom Flip and Overwatch to remove 10 threat…and then ready and draw a card.

Then there’s the offensive side. She can use her basic attack and use Upside the Head to confuse (maybe stun) and flip down to take advantage of her alter ego action. This and a 6-card hand size really boosts your next turn.

The Player Side Schemes have two functions: be a target for Making an Entrance to heal and speed up getting George Stacy and Web-Bracelet to power this reactive engine.

Enhanced Awareness is to help resource smooth and pay any requirements in cards. This helps convert any unneeded responses or interrupts into resources to be used at any time. It’s definitely needed to help ease the cost of cards played on the villain side so you can get the most out of both phases.

This means Ghost Spider plays a little differently on the villain side. You can still do the standard defend and Ghost Kick to ready and draw. However, it might be more likely that you’ll defend and cancel an encounter card, then ready and draw. You have 6 cards to cancel: Pirouette and Punch, Web Binding, and Predictable Ploy. One of those things will usually be a valid target. Keep at least 1 under George Stacy. But like I said, if you wanna Ghost Kick the villain on the villain phase, do it! It IS Ghost Spider after all.

This was a different style for Gwen, but it gave her the tools to be a powerful Justice player in both solo and multiplayer.

This really opens up one of my all-time favorites to something other than Protection. Will definitely be tinkering around with this, great job!

@neothechosen @CrustyMustelid thanks so much! It was fun getting to see her kill it in Justice

This was a fun one for my first time playing her, thank you!

Predictable Ploy under George Stacy is a great idea - I hadn't thought it was a playable card but that makes it really reliable when you need it, and the ready on Gwen makes it better value too.

@roselawn thanks for playing the deck! I’m glad it was a fun first play!

@adsarf thanks so much! I’m definitely with you that George definitely helps make those cards less situational and more playable. I don’t know that I’d use Critical Hit in an aggression Gwen, but similarly, George would be the reason that card would work!

i am such a huge fan of Enhanced Awareness, et al., especially with The Power in All of Us

Making an Entrance is also just the dream card for Ghost-Spider. so many people Aggression and Protection are all she can do, but i think there's a lot of fun options in other aspects. i was thinking about Upside the Head for obvious reasons but hadn't registered Predictable Ploy yet. awesome includes

@dr00 thanks for looking at the deck!! it definitely made my day. also thanks for building incredible decks. i've used them to help friends get hooked into the game (and for myself :D )

Yep, agreed with the others. This looks like fantastic fun. A great new take on a killer hero.

I like the list, I've been running similar stuff with Gwen since Upside came out and quietely turned Justice into her best aspect. Ploy's an interesting one that I haven't messed with; it's a pretty good George card but I'd worry about it missing too often outside of multiplayer games. Enhanced cards to make Web-Binding more consistent are a good idea that I'm surprised I never thought of.

Since you're already running Sp//dr, any reason you're not including Web of Life and Destiny? Seems like it should always at least draw a couple cards for no cost.

@Marctimmins89 thanks so much! It was definitely fun building.

@MegiDolaDyne thank you for looking at the deck and the feedback! I went back and forth to include Web of Life and Destiny. You could possibly sub out an Upside the Head for it, but it wasn’t “core” to the deck functioning well. I think you could totally add it in (41 cards and it won’t affect the deck mix on the second time through) or sub out a card for it and the deck still be fun! But for the deck to be both solo and multiplayer, these 40 cards were more consistent for me.

Good use of Predictable Ploy!

I love predictable ploy here! One of her issues for me is needing to be ready, but this one lets you have defended and then ready, so good!

Great deck idea! I’m always happy to see Gwen outside of Protection.

Why not use Build Support to grab something like Quincarrier rather than (or in addition to) Enhanced Awareness?

Jan 30, 2024 andyr · 4361

Thanks, @boomguy! It was fun seeing her thrive in Justice.

I love Quincarrier because it can be used during the villain phase. I didn’t include it so there isn’t analysis paralysis if George is missing. In this deck, Build Support needs to target George so you can start storing situational cards, but if you use it to get George, then Quincarrier is a dead card. So I’m just helping keep a player from having to debate where George might be, how far are they through the deck, have they seen their obligation.

But I think it’s definitely an excellent card to use or sub with if you’re wanting to make those kinds of judgment calls.

Jan 30, 2024 boomguy · 221

Those are good points. I just think about it for her since she can trigger it on the villain round, and if you defend and use her ability, it can be great. But George is probably the priority and dead cards never feel good!

@boomguy I definitely think it’s a valid sideboard card though because it is so good. So if your style is to wait on George, or playing multiplayer with another deck that has Build Support, then absolutely go for it because you’re right that having extra resources on the villain phase is so good for Gwen!
