Overall Aims
Inspired by the synergistic deckbuilding with the X-Men i've seen and tried so far, i'm aiming for an aggressive Cyclops allies deck with Full Blast or Team Strike being the decisive factor in most battles.
Threat
Cyclops has decent threat mitigation between his Thwart and Tactical Brilliance. Bringing along enough confuse (Professor X, Dazzler, Psylocke) and/or allies generally keeping the threat in check to change form as often as we please. Attack Training combined with Boot Camp increase each Ally's attack by 2 (and HP) increasing the amount of actions and making each attack by an ally substantially more important if thwarting with Cyclops. Utopia readies you to do even more.
Damage
Admittedly I am a fan of Cyclops from the comics so the combo of attaching the upgrade to trigger Optic Blast, then upping the ante with Full Blast is GREAT and I aim for pulling it off as often as possible. I may even go to 41 and bring the 3rd Mutant Education or more likely Weapon X to further facilitate the combo in the medium to late game.
Team Strike has huge potential considering Boot Camp and Attack Training will be in play. Minimum damage is 3 per ally assuming you're not boosting Prof, with our 1 Attack, Wolverine's 5 and one other ally you're looking at 9 damage without consequential, Wolverine + 2 allies = 12 or more, and all at 1 cost. Even with 2 lesser allies attacking for the minimum 3 each and our 1, that's 7 damage at a cost of 1 AND no consequential on our pals.
Our buffed allies will also be swinging for good hits clearing minions and beating down the Villain as we are setting up our bigger strikes.
Resources, Funding
Danger Room provides the Attack Training for free and Team-Building Exercise helps us get our allies and necessary supports into play. X-Gene helps us use our identity cards easier and taking Helicarrier over The X-Jet for use in either form.
Mulligan
Early-game we are aiming to get an ally-funding resource on the table (Helicarrier, Team-Building Exercise) the key X-Men supports X-Mansion, Danger Room or alternatively Forge to grab one of them.

Oct 06, 2023I like to run Cyclops with Valkyrie. Slapping Death Glow on the villain always ensures that Cyclops can target with Full Blast. It’s more useful in my opinion then Rogue’s “Touched” upgrade because that is always removed at the beginning of the Player’s Phase. This presents a problem for Scott on turns when he goes first, especially once he gets Field Commander in play which ensures that he always goes first. |
tried this out against Mutagen Formula, Klaw and Zola today, had fun and it played very well. Cool deck!
