Intro:

A solo Hawkeye deck based on the awesome Regroup! deck by rstorcdk.

The idea is similar, but the addition of Meditation and Quinjet aims at making the deck less reliant on the quiver being in play.

First Hand:

You will want to mulligan hard for Meditation and either Quincarrier or Helicarrier. The second priority is the Quiver. Third priority would be to get Nick Fury and Meditation.

And argument can be made for not getting the bow out on the table during your first turn, especially if you plan to stay in alter-ego or do not have any arrows/quiver in hand. Try to prioritize setting up the engine over the bow and if needed, come back into alter-ego on the second turn to get it out.

Early game:

You want to get the engine running as soon as possible. Perfectly this means having the following in play:

  • Hawkeye's Bow
  • Hawkeye's Quiver
  • Helicarrier
  • Quincarrier
  • 2x Expert Marksman

Try to get as many of the above as possible onto the table, while CCing the villain with arrows or blocking with cheap allies (Ant-Man, Maria Hill, IronHeart).

The next priority is to get the two Quinjets on the table as soon as possible, so that you can play the expensive allies like Vision, Falcon or even Mockingbird when in a pinch.

Mid/Late game:

You will be chiefly going for Nick Fury combos. With Fury the idea is to get him on the table together with Rapid Response. Get the 3 cards, have him tank an enemy attack in the Villain Phase and then immediately get another 3 cards for the next round (and potentially tank another attack from a minion/treachery). Then the next turn try to get him back in with Make the Call and substitute Rapid Response with Regroup if that is what you have in hand.

Your second priority will be to loose 1 or two arrows every round, keeping that CC going on the boss and clearing minions. When possible, prioritize using arrows from your hand over these in the quiver.

Other than that, always try to get as many allies as possible in play and chip away at the villain and schemes.

Overall style:

Hawkeye is not a big combo character, so expect to play longer, control-based games with this one. You will regularly go through your deck 2-3 times per game. But if you like that style as much as I do, this deck can feel almost as smooth as Doctor Strange in most games, always giving you the tool you need at the moment.

Counters:

  • Anything that can get your bow out of your deck and discard pile (Ultron,Thanos).
  • Any Villian that hits hard and with overkill (unless you have Mockingbird on the table).
  • Getting your quiver discarded with a lot of arrows in it.
