I decided to do a series of decks where I pit them against the Core scenarios and see if they can beat all 3 on expert. This deck also beat both Expert Mutagen Formula and Risky Business, as well as Collector 1! It beat Ronan standard. I did not attempt Ronan expert.

For Spider-Man aggression I knew his biggest weakness was lack of thwart and lack of minion control.

For minion control I decided to focus on a large group of cheap allies that can help take down minions. Testing against expert Klaw and expert Ultron assured me they could take on high health minions and larger numbers.

Black Cat and Tigra can obviously put in serious minion killing, especially with Boot Camp in play.

Valkyrie is great because she can kill a minion when summoned or two weaker minions.

Wasp is versatile and can use web shooters wild resources to gain more health. She just hits really hard for cheap.

Spider-girl can help take care of a more powerful minion and incapacitate them.

Nick Fury is just an all around great card combining card draw, thwart and a block all in one.

As for thwart I focused on two main cards, Into the Fray and Chase Them Down as well as Spider-Man’s tracers.

Definitely try to get out both martial prowess and deft focus. When combined you can play swinging web kick for one resource! Free if you have web shooters out! Martial prowess also works with Melee, and Into the Fray.

Rounding out the deck are some support cards: the double resources, an avengers mansion and endurance as well as two power of aggression (there are lots of targets for that double resource) as well as some copies of counter attack for when you take big damage, you may as well dish it back. Plus it keeps them out of your deck on a reshuffle. I was using Enraged on my allies but found that with the play style of the deck counter attack worked better.

Summary:

Primarily defend with Spider-Man and use backflip/enhanced spider sense when needed. Once Aunt May is out I’ll even sometimes take a hit to the face for a big counter attack.

Always play Deft Focus, Martial Prowess and Aunt May so you can play those attack events and swinging web kicks for cheaper. Play web shooters when you can.

Use melee along with chase them down and spider-tracer for minion control and threat control and into the fray for taking down bigger minions or weak minions when you have lots of threat to clear.

Boost your allies with boot camp using Tigra and Black cat for minions and stack up glory counters with Hall of Heroes for a huge turn once you flip down. The third ally slot is a flex spot for allies like Fury, Valkyrie Spider-Girl and Wasp that come in, help out and leave.

Also Webbed up can usually buy you TWO turns in solo against the villain so I almost always play it unless I have important set up cards in hand
